Biotech and health tech are the most popular with cheetahs

"Cheetah Enterprises represents the economy of the future. What they are doing and where they are doing it shows which industries attract the world's top young talent and the brightest capital, and which countries and cities have the best startup ecosystems. Hurun Report, chairman and chief research officer, said when releasing the list.

According to the "2023 Hurun Global Cheetah Enterprise List", global cheetah companies are only distributed in 34 countries and 198 cities. China and the United States lead with 291 and 246 respectively, accounting for 72% of the total number of known cheetah companies in the world. The United Kingdom is in third place with 39 cheetah companies, followed by India with 36.

On all continents, Asia is ahead of North America and has the largest number of cheetah companies. There are 149 cheetah enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region, accounting for 51% of the country's total, and 56 in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, accounting for 19% of the country's total.

The "Cheetah Enterprises" on the list are high-growth companies in the world that were founded after 2000 and are most likely to reach a unicorn billion-dollar valuation within five years.

"Cheetah companies are the most worthy of our attention as the unicorns of the future," Hurun pointed out, "Many of them are not yet well-known, and it would be a good time to work with or invest in these start-ups at an early stage, because they are on the way to becoming unicorns, and there is a greater need for cooperation and financing." ”

Hurun also said that the tracks covered by these cheetah companies are very worthy of everyone's attention, such as biotechnology and health technology, which are the most favored by cheetah companies. "In the next five years, there should be more unicorns from these two tracks, not as many as we see in the fintech, software services and e-commerce industries that we see now. ”

The number of companies on the list in Nansha accounts for 1/5 of Guangzhou

"Guangzhou is the fastest-growing Chinese city in terms of the number of unicorns in the past year, with 22, 12 more than a year ago. Hurun said in an interview that Guangzhou has 20 companies on the list of global cheetah companies released this time, which is equivalent to the total number of cheetah companies in some countries. In fact, it is not easy to create a "cheetah", which shows that the region has great potential for development.

There are 4 cheetah companies on the list in Nansha, Guangzhou, which are Chali, Jiemeng Intelligence, Jushan Database, and Mushroom IoT, which is not easy.

"Nansha District has a good environment suitable for the development of high-growth industries, providing sufficient impetus and policy dividends for innovative enterprises on the basis of common policies, and giving more support to emerging industries in terms of technology research and development, industrial agglomeration, application scenarios, and financial support. Hurun pointed out that the release of the list in Nansha not only hopes to make truly powerful cheetah enterprises attract market attention, but also hopes to promote local governments to further pay attention to the "potential stocks" in the region and strengthen support for the development of such enterprises. In addition, let people who are interested in innovation and entrepreneurship find a hot land suitable for their own investment and development.

Founded in 2016, Mushroom IoT, one of the companies on the list in Nansha District, is a one-stop AIoT SaaS service provider for general industrial equipment, and has become a member of emerging technology enterprises in Nansha this year. Shen Guohui, founder and CEO of the company, said that in the past 7 years, Mushroom IOT has been recognized by more than 5,000 industrial enterprises, ranking first in Guangdong, top three in China, and first in the field of air compressors. "This year, we officially settled in Nansha, with nearly 200 independent intellectual property rights, to build an industrial Internet exhibition center, integrate a variety of application scenarios of intelligent manufacturing, and help the general industrial equipment industry chain to achieve digital, networked and intelligent transformation. Shen Guohui said that the company will be based in Nansha, use AIOT technology radiation to help national industrial enterprises achieve digital transformation, achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction, connect 3 million general industrial equipment in the next five years, help 30,000 industrial enterprises complete the transformation, achieve the goal of energy conservation and carbon reduction, and continue to contribute to the sustainable development of the environment.
