On December 17th, the final review of the Zhongyuan Medical Science City International Urban Design Competition was successfully held in Zhengzhou Airport Area, with Li Xiaojiang, a national engineering survey and design master and former president of the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design, as the general director of the competition, and 9 well-known urban planners at home and abroad, including academicians of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, deans of the School of Architecture and Landscape Design of Peking University, and winners of the Sir Jericho Award for Lifetime Achievement of IFLA World Landscape and Landscape Architecture. The judging committee composed of architectural design experts and scholars carefully reviewed the results of the five participating design teams, including CHAPMAN TAYLOR LLP / TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND RESEARCH INSTITUTE CO., LTD., and finally determined the best option, which drew an end to the global "beauty pageant" that lasted for more than 5 months in Zhongyuan Medical Science City.

In order to achieve a high starting point planning and high-standard design, Zhongyuan Medical Science City aims at the goal of "global vision and international standards", and officially launched the 2023 "Aerial Silk Road" Urban Design and Creative Architecture International Competition - Zhongyuan Medical Science City Urban Design International Competition on July 7. From the two levels of "urban design of the area" and "detailed urban design of the core area", we will solicit forward-looking, innovative and practical urban design proposals from all over the world, so as to help the high-grade, high-standard and high-quality construction and development of Zhongyuan Medical Science City.
There are no qualification requirements for the competition, and the global open registration method is adopted, and domestic and foreign design institutions and consortia can register to participate. The competition launched the pre-release and pre-registration on the day of the competition, released the official announcement and the first phase of the design task book in July, announced the prequalification results in August, organized field research and on-site survey in October, and released the second stage of the design task book, and the final evaluation results were announced in December.
According to reports, since the release of the competition, it has attracted wide attention from all over the world and the whole industry, attracting 36 teams and 69 participating design institutions from 9 countries and regions including China, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, the United States, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom to actively participate - finally 24 participating teams and 54 design institutions submitted prequalification documents for the competition.

On September 20th, the prequalification review meeting of the Zhongyuan Medical Science City Urban Design International Competition was successfully held, and after 9 hours of careful evaluation by the expert team, 7 rounds of scoring and voting, the final 5 participating teams were officially shortlisted.

On December 17th, the five teams conducted in-depth research on the location advantages, functional positioning and future development of Zhongyuan Medical Science City, and perfectly presented their meticulous works with the latest planning and design concepts and the actual situation of Zhongyuan Medical Science City.
