On December 16, 2023, Chen Longcan, the first Olympic champion of Chinese table tennis, went to Zitong, Sichuan Province for guidance and exchange.
At the Zitong County 2023 "Jinhua Hengtai Baolilai" Cup Spring Festival Table Tennis Open held in the Zitong County Workers' Cultural Palace, Chen Longcan and Zhou Houchun carefully watched the table tennis players' games, competed with the athletes on the spot, taught them skills and practical experience, and took photos with youth representatives. Chen Longcan encouraged the golfers to continue to adhere to this hobby and take multiple measures to inherit and carry forward table tennis, a traditional Chinese "national sport".
Chen Longcan, vice chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Table Tennis Association, said that table tennis is a sport with a strong mass foundation and is deeply loved by the broad masses of the people. In recent years, Zitong has built a public sports center, a workers' cultural palace and other public welfare staff activity positions, with good national fitness conditions.
