"Swallow Li San" can be said to be a famous figure in the Republic of China, and his folklore stories have even been remade into many TV series, so that more people know this "righteous thief".
But in fact, there are many "swallow Li San" in history. One is Li Yunlong in Cangzhou, Hebei Province in 1837, because he was the third in the family, he was the first to use the swallow nickname, known as "Swallow Li".
The second is Li Jinghua from Zhuozhou, Baoding, Hebei Province, who can be said to be a real righteous thief and recognized as the "authentic Li San" in the historical circles, who died in the detention center in 1936, and the cause of death is a mystery.
As the name of "Swallow Li San" is getting bigger and bigger, it has also become the "common name" of the gentleman on Liang, among these "new Li San", the most famous and influential one is the "Swallow Li San" Li Shengwu of Shandong. How great is the influence? So great that Marshal Chen Yi personally ordered: "Capture him alive within three months to see if he can fly!"
Capture "Swallow Li San"
Although Li Shengwu is also called "Swallow Li San", what he does really has nothing to do with the legendary "righteous thief".
This Li San is a native of Lijiazhuang, Yucheng County, the third among his peers, and took refuge in the "beard" of the Northeast in his early years, and then began to roam the rivers and lakes as a snitch, because at that time "Swallow Li San" became famous, and also began to call himself "Swallow Li San".
Li San returned to Shandong in 1943 and robbed Jinan's Dagong Entrusted Trading House, Meiji Clock and Watch Company, Huacheng Silk Village, Hongshun Clothing Store, etc. All the stolen money was used to eat, drink, prostitute and gamble.
Although Li San was not caught without a mistake, he checked the reactionary government up and down, so he didn't have to be locked up for long after entering, and he swaggered out of the police station.
In 1948, the bribery of the criminal police team of the Kuomintang "Shandong Provincial Capital Police Bureau" was exposed, and in order to cover up the crime, they had to arrest Li San and then push him to the court for trial.
The court also took his advantage, and although Li San did enough to be shot, he was only sentenced to "life imprisonment".
Even if he is in prison, Li Sanguo is also called a comfortable person, and he can eat banquets and recruit prostitutes in prison. The "Second Pacification Zone Command" even often sent a special car to the prison to pick up Li San for a "chat."
A habitual bandit is obviously not worthy of such a "courteous corporal" of the Kuomintang, and a large part of the reason why they did this is that they want this Li San to cause trouble for the PLA.
Sure enough, after the Battle of Jinan started in September 1948, all the prison guards Hula ran out at once, and Li San also took the opportunity to gather fugitives to escape from prison, and after the liberation of Jinan, they robbed, killed people everywhere, and even attacked the police.
Such a vicious thief naturally couldn't be polite to him, and a special task force was set up to pursue him.
On January 6, 1949, when the public security organs received a report from the masses that they had found Yanzi Li San in a carpenter shop on Shunjing Street, they quickly sent people to arrest them.
As soon as the scout entered the shop, he saw a man "about thirty years old, with a bald head, a flat square face, yellow skin, a high nose, a large mouth, small eyes, and two broom eyebrows", talking to the owner of the carpenter's shop. After seeing the police, he was not afraid, and said with a smile that he was a "serious businessman".
The investigator naturally won't be deceived by him, he has seen Li San's portrait before, and knows that this is the habitual bandit Li San. Let Li San go in front and hold him in the back.
When Li San walked out of the gate and went down the steps, he suddenly fell forward, and the scout behind him thought that he had fallen and wanted to help him, who would have thought that Li San suddenly rolled against the wall and rolled against the wall, and then turned around, and there was an extra gun in his hand as if he was juggling.
The scout was also quick to react, flashed to the side, and fired back.
The investigators fired two shots in a row but failed to hit Li San, but the gunfire scared away the people who were fetching water by the nearby well. Li San also took the opportunity to blend in with the crowd and disappeared.
Nine days passed in the blink of an eye, and on January 15, the Nanguan team saw Li Sansan walking out of a grain and oil store in a big way, and the two criminal policemen who were surrounding him quickly stepped forward and stole him to the case.
However, when they escorted Li San towards the Public Security Bureau, they were confronted by a group of Yangge teams, plus the crowd watching the excitement, blocking the road to death. Li San took advantage of the crowd to break free again, and a carp ran to the top of a collapsed house around him, and then took out a pistol and shot at the crowd.
The crowd subconsciously scattered and fled, and there was chaos on the street, and Li San also took this opportunity to blend into the crowd again and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Arrested twice, both times let this "swallow Li San" run away. All of a sudden, the name of this "new Li San" was extremely loud, and the people rumored that he would "get out of the shell of the golden cicada".
Gradually, the name of "Swallow Li San" spread to the ears of Chen Yi, the second secretary of the East China Bureau. At that time, the first secretary was recuperating, and Chen Yi was the acting person in charge of the East China Bureau, and he gave instructions on the spot: "Capture this 'swallow Li San' alive in 3 months, and I want to see if he can fly." ”

Swallow Li San is so cunning, how should he catch him?
The leading cadres of Jinan City have a great headache about this.
As the saying goes, "there is nowhere to find when you step on the iron shoes, and it takes no effort to get it", no one expected that the clues would be sent to the door by themselves.
On this day, the police cracked a case of illegal gun trading, and the main culprit, Gu Shengsan, said after his arrest that he took the risk of buying and selling guns because "his life was threatened."
It turned out that Gu Shengsan had borrowed 30 million from Yanzi Li San in recent months, and Li San recently urged him to repay the money immediately. Gu Shengsan said that his goods were sent to Xuzhou, and he had to sell all the goods in Xuzhou before he could return the money.
However, Li San didn't listen to his defense at all: "If you don't pay back the money as soon as possible, be careful that your life is not guaranteed." ”
In order to avoid identifying the wrong person, the police specifically confirmed with Gu Shengsan that the "swallow Li San" who lent him money was Li Shengwu, not some other gentleman on the beam.
Now it's okay, there is finally a direction to solve the case.
Soon, news spread on the local underworld, saying that Gu Shengsan was going to Xuzhou to sell all the goods in order to repay the arrears as soon as possible.
Sure enough, on May 19, 1949, Gu Shengsan rushed to Xuzhou with two "entourage" and found the business where he had deposited the goods, saying that his goods must be sold immediately and Mr. Li's money should be returned.
After finishing speaking, Gu Shengsan left again.
After Li San, who was hiding in Jinan, heard the relevant news, he arrived in Xuzhou on June 14 and wanted to "chat" with Gu Shengsan. As a result, he was told that "Mr. Gu went out and was not there".
Li San was a little annoyed by this, and left a message at the counter saying that he would come to Xuzhou again on the 19th, and asked Gu Shengsan to wait.
However, on the 19th, the investigators of the task force waited from morning to night and failed to wait for Li San, because they were afraid that Li San would perceive that this was a trap, so they hurriedly took Gu Shengsan back to Jinan for protection.
But no one expected that within a few days, Li San took the initiative to come to Xingshi to ask the guilt: "How can you not keep your word?"
The letter was sent from Xuzhou to Jinan, and the task force realized that this Li San was probably still in Xuzhou, and this was an excellent opportunity to arrest him.
On June 24, at the home of Li San's concubine Zhang Honglan at No. 78 Tieguan Lane, Xuzhou, Gu Shengsan saw Li San again, took the initiative to return part of the money, and agreed to pay off the rest of the money until tomorrow.
The reason why the money has to be repaid in two installments is to confirm that it is indeed Li San himself. Second, Gu Shengsan can take a look at the situation inside, and the police can formulate an arrest plan.
Early in the morning of the 25th, Gu Shengsan really came to Zhang Honglan's house with the rest of the money, handed over all the money to Li San without any delay, and then walked out with a "long sigh".
When Gu Shengsan walked outside the courtyard and saw that the courtyard had been surrounded by plainclothes, he couldn't help but feel a little afraid. If this transaction is not an act but a fact, then not only is his sentence hopeless, but he may be regarded as Li San's accomplice.
After a while, two household registration policemen came to the courtyard, and they knocked on the door from door to door to "check the household registration".
When they arrived at Zhang Guihong's house, the household registration police saw a strange man sitting on the bed at a glance, and was told that it was "Zhang Honglan's distant cousin". As if he hadn't seen the man's hand on his waist, the household registration police only glanced at him and withdrew his gaze, closed the household registration and was about to leave.
The man on the bed relaxed his vigilance and leaned against the wall, wanting to change to a more comfortable sitting position, and at this time, the two household registration policemen suddenly rushed up and pressed the man who did not react to the bed down, and the guns and bullets on his body were naturally searched.
That's right, this man is "Swallow Li San", or should be called Li Shengwu.
Li Shengwu has committed many major cases in Jinan, Xuzhou and other places, and there are more than 10 lawsuits involving human lives on his back. For such a habitual offender, there is naturally no possibility of a lenient punishment.
On September 4, 1949, the director of the Jinan Municipal Public Security Bureau decided that Li Shengwu should be sentenced to death, and he was shot, and reported to the provincial government for approval.
On September 30, Guo Zihua, vice chairman of the Shandong Provincial Government, signed an approval: "Agree to sentence the habitual bandit Li Shengwu to death." ”
So, on October 27, with the sound of a gunshot, Li Shengwu, a habitual bandit who had done many evils, was shot and killed.
After the news spread, the people of Jinan rushed to tell each other, surprised and happy that the government suppressed "Swallow Li San" so quickly:
