The above content comes from the "2023 Hurun Male Entrepreneur List" released by the Hurun Research Institute on December 12, which lists the top 50 male entrepreneurs in the 2023 Hurun Report. This is the first time that the Hurun Research Institute has released the "Male Entrepreneur List".
Not long ago, on November 14, the Hurun Research Institute released the "Hurun Women Entrepreneurs List" for the 18th time. According to the list, the total wealth of the top 50 Chinese female entrepreneurs is 1.37 trillion yuan, down 11% from 2022, which is one-fifth of the total wealth of the top 50 Chinese male entrepreneurs on the Hurun Report, with an average age of 57 years old, 59% self-made, and 41% inheriting wealth.
It is understood that unlike the overall list of the Hurun Report, the list of male/female entrepreneurs separately calculates the personal wealth of male/female entrepreneurs who can be separated from the family wealth. The deadline for wealth calculation is September 1, 2023.
"When I first started my business in 1999, Chinese entrepreneurs accounted for less than 1% of the world's world-class entrepreneurs, far less than the 20% of the world's population in the Chinese population. At that time, I realized that China has such an excellent business history, and it is impossible for Chinese entrepreneurs to account for so few in the world. Hurun Report, chairman and chief research officer, said that today, the proportion of Chinese entrepreneurs in the world far exceeds the proportion of Chinese in the global population, male entrepreneurs have more than doubled, and female entrepreneurs have more than doubled, reaching more than 40% and 60% of the world, respectively.
It is worth noting that the top 50 Chinese male and female entrepreneurs, in terms of threshold, industry, place of residence, and self-made ratio, are different from the overall list of the Hurun Report. From the threshold point of view, the threshold of the top 50 male entrepreneurs is 64 billion yuan, the threshold of the top 50 female entrepreneurs is 13.5 billion yuan, and the threshold of the top 100 rich list is 5 billion yuan.
In terms of industry distribution, the top 50 male entrepreneurs are the most engaged in the food and beverage and media and entertainment industries, the female entrepreneurs are the most engaged in the real estate, consumer goods and energy industries, and the entrepreneurs on the top 100 list are the most engaged in the industrial products industry, followed by consumer goods and health.
In terms of place of residence, among the top 50 male entrepreneurs, Hong Kong is the most dominant, followed by Beijing, Beijing is the most female, followed by Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and among the top 100 entrepreneurs, Beijing is the most, followed by Shenzhen and Shanghai.
In terms of the percentage of self-made entrepreneurs, 90% of the top 50 male entrepreneurs are self-made, 59% of women are self-made, and 92% of the top 50 entrepreneurs are self-made.

Hurun further pointed out that other reasons why male entrepreneurs are wealthier than female entrepreneurs include: First, the traditional concept is that men are the main ones outside and women are inside, and many entrepreneurs on the list do external sales and women do finance when they start their own businesses. Second, because women take on more responsibility for childbearing and raising children, full-time work allows men to spend more energy in business than women.
Zhong Sui, Ma Huateng, and Huang Zheng ranked in the top three
Judging from the list, the threshold for the top ten male entrepreneurs is 170 billion yuan. In comparison, the threshold for the top 10 female entrepreneurs is 37.5 billion yuan.
Only 1 in the top 10 male entrepreneurs are involved in real estate, while 4 of the top 10 female entrepreneurs are involved in the real estate industry. Of the top 10 male entrepreneurs, four live in Hangzhou, two in Hong Kong, and one each in Shanghai, Ningde, Beijing and Foshan.
Among them, China's richest man, Zhong Sui, ranks 15th on the 2023 Hurun Global Rich List.

Residence: Hong Kong is the most, Beijing is the second
Among the top 50 Chinese male entrepreneurs, 10 live in Hong Kong, followed by Beijing with 7, Shenzhen and Hangzhou with 5 each, and Chengdu and Shanghai with 3 each. In contrast, among the top 50 female entrepreneurs, Beijing has the most residing people, followed by Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Industry distribution: Food & Beverage & Media & Entertainment is the highest
Among the top 50 male entrepreneurs, the food and beverage and media and entertainment industries have the highest percentage, with 14% and 12% respectively, while real estate ranks sixth with 6%. Among the top 50 female entrepreneurs, the real estate sector has the highest share, while consumer goods and energy are tied for second place.

Youngest TOP 3: Cai Haoyu, Yan Hao, Zhang Yiming
It is worth noting that among the top 50 male entrepreneurs, the youngest are 36-year-old Cai Haoyu of miHoYo, 37-year-old Yan Hao of Pacific Construction, and 40-year-old Zhang Yiming of ByteDance, who are also ranked in the "2023 Hurun U40 China Entrepreneurship Pioneers".

Philanthropy: 7 people on the list
Among the top 50 male entrepreneurs, 7 are on the 2023 Hurun Charity List: Midea's He Xiangjian, Mindray's Li Xiting, Baofeng's Dang Yanbao, Tencent's Ma Huateng, Galaxy's Lui Che Woo, ByteDance's Zhang Yiming, and Hengli's Chen Jianhua.
Among them, He Xiangjian invested 3 billion yuan to set up the He Xiangjian Science Foundation, which was donated more than 15 billion yuan by the first benevolent person five years ago, Li Xiting donated 1 billion yuan to his alma mater, Anhui Dangshan Middle School, and Dang Yanbao donated 600 million yuan in cash to the Ningxia Yanbao Charity Foundation.
