Samsung announced mass production of a 31.5-inch UHD QD-OLED screen: the highest pixel density has been achieved

Fast technology news on December 13, Samsung Display announced that from this month, it will fully launch the mass production of 31.5-inch UHD (3840x2160) resolution QD-OLED, this new product achieves the highest level of pixel density and UHD resolution in self-luminous displays.

To develop the ultra-high-definition resolution display, Samsung Display applied advanced ultra-precision inkjet printing technology to the QD (quantum dot) light-emitting layer and successfully increased the pixel density to 140PPI, which is equivalent to the pixel density of 65-inch 8K TVs currently on the market.

Since the display is usually viewed closer together than the TV, the user is more sensitive to picture quality. At present, the self-illuminating 30-inch display on the market generally adopts QHD (2560x1440) resolution, and consumers who like games and high-definition video content are more interested in UHD products.

In addition to the UHD screen, Samsung Display also plans to launch a 27-inch QHD QD-OLED screen with the industry's highest 360Hz refresh rate in 2024 to meet the needs of the rapidly growing gaming monitor market.

Industry forecasts show that shipments of self-emitting displays, which are driving the development of the high-end display market, are expected to increase by more than 4 times compared to last year in 2023, and are expected to reach about 600,000 units. Samsung Display plans to work hand-in-hand with global customers to officially launch new products with ultra-high definition and high refresh rates from early 2024.

In addition, the company plans to aggressively expand the high-end display market by launching a variety of product lines such as 27-inch, 31.5-inch, 34-inch, and 49-inch, as well as developing new customers.
