Domestic CPUs have entered a new historical stage, and it is just around the corner to completely get rid of dependence on foreign products.

Just now, the 2023 Loongson Product Release and User Conference was officially opened at the National Convention Center, during which Loongson released a new generation of general-purpose processor Loongson 3A6000 and printer main control chip Loongson 2P0500.

Regarding the Loongson 3A6000, we have introduced it many times before, and this time it is finally officially debuted.

Due to the use of the latest LA664 core, the performance of Loongson 3A6000 has been greatly improved, through the test of the Fourth Institute of Electronics, compared with the previous generation of Loongson 3A5000, Loongson 3A6000 single-threaded performance increased by more than 60% under the same process, and the multi-threaded performance of the whole chip has been doubled.

At the same time, Loongson 3A6000 supports 128-bit Vector Processing Extended Instructions (LSX) and 256-bit Advanced Vector Processing Extended Instructions (LASX), and breaks through the simultaneous multi-threading technology (SMT2), with a total of 8 logic cores on the whole chip. At the same time, it also integrates a dual-channel DDR4-3200 controller and an integrated security and trusted module, which can provide secure boot scheme and national cryptography (SM2, SM3, SM4, etc.) application support.

The Loongson 3A6000 runs at only 2.5GHz, but through testing, its overall performance is comparable to that of Intel's 10th generation 3.6GHz Core i3 processors that hit the market in 2020.

ASUS, a major motherboard manufacturer, has also launched motherboards that support Loongson, and also said that even Intel's latest 14th generation i5 processor has the same performance as the Loongson 3A6000 after being downclocked to the same frequency. It can be seen that this domestic CPU has reached a very strong level.

And, more importantly, Loongson 3A6000 has been applied in a large area. At present, more than 50 manufacturers have released various products based on Loongson 3A6000 desktop computers, notebooks, boards, storage products, network security equipment, industrial control computers and other products, covering multiple scenarios such as information office, entertainment, industrial control, intelligent manufacturing, smart home, digital hardware and so on. For example, you can smoothly play large-scale 3D games such as Genshin Impact and Tomb Raider, and use common office software and industry software such as QQ, WeChat, DingTalk, ZWCAD, and WPS. In addition, Loongson Zhongke also said that it can run most X86 / Linux applications at present, and strive to run most X86 / Windows applications smoothly in 1-2 years. In other words, it won't be long before Intel and AMD CPUs are not irreplaceable, and we will have more options.

As for the other chip, Loongson 2P0500, in fact, I also talked about it in the previous video, it is the main control SoC chip of a printer, which is the core control component of the printing/scanning machine. At this conference, a total of 12 printer manufacturers signed agreements with Loongson Zhongke to create a new ecology of domestic printers. This also means that the office product of the printer may become the world of Chinese manufacturers.

In addition, Loongson CPU IP core is also open to external licensing, and next, there will be many domestic chip manufacturers to launch processors based on Loongson IP core to complete more domestic substitution, which is also very good to think about.

At the conference, Hu Weiwu, chairman of Loongson Zhongke, said that he believed that he could use the 7nm process to achieve the performance of 5nm or 3nm from other manufacturers, and hoped that in another two years, this story could be told at the press conference.

Then this sentence makes people think about it, look, before 2025, China's semiconductor industry will continue to have good news, shocking the Chinese people, but also shocking the world. Just like the Kirin 9000S, to this day, the West still has not figured out who and how this chip was made, which is another proof that China's science and technology is strong.
