Ten Hag's savior? Manchester United are expected to sign five players in January next year!

After a poor start to the 2023-24 season, Manchester United have been linked with a number of players in the winter transfer window next January. Erik ten Hag's side have won four of their last five Premier League games, but their performances have been unconvincing – including a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, as well as defeats to Newcastle United and FC Copenhagen in the Carabao Cup and Champions League respectively.

There seem to be many aspects of United's squad that need to be improved, with the editor identifying five players who are expected to move to Old Trafford in January.

Jean-Claire Todibo

Luis Saha recommended his former club to sign the France international.

Saha: "He's a very good defender, he's very unfortunate because at the moment the French defender has a golden generation, that's why he doesn't make many appearances for the national team. He's very good on the ball, he's calm and suits United's style of play. ”

Mark Guy

Jean-Claire Todibo is not the only centre-back who was thought to strengthen Erik ten Hag's defensive options in January.

With Harry Maguire out of favour and Lisandro Martinez injured, Raphael Varanechi falling out of favour and Evans on the side's expedient side, according to Football Insider, England international Mark Guehi has been shortlisted for Manchester United. Palace are reportedly working to negotiate a new contract with the 23-year-old, who runs until 2026. It was then reported that Palace would reluctantly accept a £60million offer if they were unable to tie the rising star together.

Tyjani Reinders

Italian outlet Calciomercato claims that Erik ten Hag is keen to sign his Dutchman Tyjani Reinders, who has attracted attention at AC Milan this season.

The 25-year-old midfielder moved to AC Milan from AZ Alkmaar for €20 million in the summer. Tyjane Reinders is now a Netherlands international and given his Eredivisie background, he should be on Erik ten Hag's radar.

Arnau Martínez

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City are all seriously considering bringing in Spain Under-21 international Arnau Martinez.

Arnau Martinez has not had a specific link with Old Trafford, but right-back has long been considered a position for United to improve, and according to a recent report by 90min, they are one of a number of Premier League clubs who have looked at his progress at Montilevy this season.

Fairmelen

TEAMtalk recently reported that Arsenal are looking to further strengthen manager Mikel Arteta's options in midfield and have therefore become a suitor for high-profile rising star Fermelen.

But the Gunners are not the only club linked with a move for Fermelen, who is expected to be "a well-rounded midfielder" with the strength of his defensive prowess. Defence has been a central issue for United this season and it makes sense that Manchester United's scouts are tracking a potential long-term solution for Vermeerlen's pivotal role.
