At the end of September 1949, the First Corps of the Northwest Field Army decided to reorganize 11 large and small units, including the 3rd Automobile Regiment, the 5th Regiment, the 13th Regiment and the 2nd Automobile Maintenance Regiment, under the jurisdiction of the 8th Supply Area of the Kuomintang Joint Logistics Headquarters in Jiuquan, with more than 7,500 personnel and 320 available vehicles, as well as the 1st Battalion of the 4th Automobile Regiment and the 2nd Battalion of the 20th Automobile Regiment in Jiuquan, under the jurisdiction of the Xinjiang Supply Bureau of the Joint Logistics Headquarters, to be reorganized into the Jiuquan Di (Hua) Transportation Command of the First Corps. It is responsible for the land transportation of the People's Liberation Army into Xinjiang.
On October 5, 1949, the First Corps decided to transfer all the automobile regiments of the East China Military Region and the transport team of the Second Army strengthened by the PLA Headquarters to the Jiu (Quan) Di (Hua) Transport Command of the First Corps for unified command.
From October 1949 to April 1950, the 1st Corps' Jiu (Quan) Di (Hua) Transport Command transported a total of 72,814 troops and more than 9,000 tons of grain, oil, and other materials into Xinjiang.
On March 16, 1950, some companies of the Second and Third Provisional Automobile Regiments were incorporated into the First Provisional Automobile Regiment to form a new temporary First Automobile Regiment, which was under the leadership of the Transportation Department of the Logistics Department of the Xinjiang Military Region.
The 2nd Provisional Automobile Regiment was reorganized into an independent automobile battalion.
In April 1950, the transportation task was completed, and the Jiu (Quan) Di (Hua) Transportation Command of the First Corps was ordered to be abolished. The leading organs were incorporated into the Transportation Department of the Logistics Department of the Xinjiang Military Region, and the First Provisional Automobile Regiment, the Second Provisional Automobile Regiment, the Third Provisional Automobile Regiment, and the Automobile Maintenance Regiment (later renamed the General Automobile Repair Plant of the Xinjiang Military Region) were under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Department of the Logistics Department of the Xinjiang Military Region, and the Automobile Regiment and the Second Army Transport Team of the East China Military Region were returned to the organization.
Before Yanqi, the 3rd Battalion of the 2nd Automobile Regiment and the 3rd Battalion of the 4th Automobile Regiment and the 3rd Battalion of the 20th Automobile Regiment of the Kuomintang uprising were reorganized into the 3rd Provisional Automobile Regiment, which was subordinate to the Jiu (Quan) Di (Hua) Transportation Command of the First Corps.
The Automobile Maintenance Corps was reorganized into a general automobile repair factory, which was subordinate to the leadership of the Transportation Department of the Logistics Department of the Xinjiang Military Region. In April 1950, it was converted into October Automobile Repair Factory.
In June 1950, the Second Provisional Automobile Regiment was re-established, the Independent Automobile Battalion was reorganized into the First Battalion of the Second Provisional Automobile Regiment, the First Automobile Transport Brigade of the former Ministry of Transport was reorganized into the Second Battalion, and the Second Battalion of the Provisional Automobile Regiment was reorganized into the Third Battalion.
On August 27, 1951, the Northwest Military Region decided to reorganize the First Automobile Regiment of the Provisional Military Region into the Fourth Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region, the Second Automobile Regiment of the Provisional Automobile Regiment to the Fifth Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region, and the Third Automobile Regiment of the Provisional Automobile Regiment to the Sixth Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region.

On February 9, 1953, the 4th Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region combined two companies with two companies of the 5th Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region and one company of the 6th Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region to form the 15th Provisional Regiment of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Volunteers and went to fight in Korea.
In May 1953, most of the Sixth Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region was transferred to the local Xinjiang Transportation Corporation, and the rest was reorganized into the Second Independent Automobile Battalion of the Xinjiang Military Region.
In May 1953, the 5th and 6th Automobile Regiments of the former Northwest Military Region and the Transportation Department of the Southern Xinjiang Military Region were organized into the 2nd Automobile Regiment and the 2nd and 3rd Independent Automobile Battalions respectively. It is subordinate to the leadership of the Logistics and Transportation Department of the Xinjiang Military Region, and the minister is Chen Shi.
In June 1953, Zhang Zhonghan, member of the party committee of the Xinjiang Military Region, Chen Shi, director of the Ministry of Transportation, and Lin Haiqing, deputy political commissar of the Ministry of Transportation of the Xinjiang Military Region, went to the automobile unit under the jurisdiction of the Xinjiang Military Region to convey the order of the Northwest Military Region, and the automobile unit in Xinjiang was reorganized into two automobile regiments and three automobile battalions, with the fourth automobile regiment and the first independent automobile battalion belonging to the national defense force system, and the fifth automobile regiment and the second and third independent automobile battalions belonging to the production units.

On January 1, 1955, the former 4th and 5th Automobile Regiments of the Northwest Military Region were renamed the 1st and 2nd Automobile Regiments. The Fifth Automobile Regiment of the Northwest Military Region, which was originally established in Jiuquan in April 1960, was renamed the Second Automobile Regiment, and its commander, Li Jingyi, was transferred to the Production and Construction Corps of the Xinjiang Military Region and called it the Second Automobile Regiment of the Corps. In 1956, it moved from Jiuquan to Hami. After the Lanxin Railway was opened to traffic, the regiment was relocated to Shihezi. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Independent Automobile Battalions of the Xinjiang Military Region were changed to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Independent Automobile Battalions of the XPCC.
The Second Independent Automobile Battalion of the Xinjiang Military Region was also handed over to the Production and Construction Corps of the Xinjiang Military Region and stationed in Alagou. The battalion produced Su Changfu, a well-known model worker in the automobile industry in the country.
