I don't know if you have seen this "mushroom cloud" that swipes the screen, which is the distribution map of the scores of this year's Haidian high school entrance examination. Everyone called it "miserable" - there are so many children concentrated in the high division, and it is too rolled.

Is this called "tragic"? This year's math and physics are more difficult than last year's, and the distinction is not much better than last year!

I made a chart comparing the difference between the distribution of test scores in Haidian in 2022 and 2023.

As you can see, there are 205 students with a total score of more than 650 in the high school entrance examination this year, but last year it was 2,632, a difference of more than ten times!! (The total score of the high school entrance examination is 660 points)

Although the number of new births has hit a new low in the past two years, the number of primary school students enrolled in primary schools has hit a new high.

And head resources are always scarce, just like the United States and Canada, although you can go to high school and college if you want to, but if you want to go to the head school, you still have to die.

So within 10 years, the child is still likely to pass by his dream high school because of a difference of one or two points.

High school is not compulsory, and there is a much greater difference between high schools than elementary school. For example, nearly 100% of the students in Haidian Liuxiaoqiang can go to one book, and 50% of the students can go to 985 and excellent 211, so if the child is admitted to such a high school, the chance of going to a good university is relatively large; Also in Haidian, 50% of the children in the bottom middle school can go to a book, which is good.

Is it worth it to work hard from the beginning of the year for a mere few points? Many parents feel that the cost performance is not too high, including myself, but they have to bow to the harsh reality.

Is there any other way, in case the child's high school entrance examination score is not enough, can it be saved and salvaged? This can also reduce a lot of burden on the elderly mother and child.

The college entrance examination has been reformed in recent years, such as the strong foundation and comprehensive quality evaluation enrollment methods, which are not completely based on the college entrance examination scores. Compared with the college entrance examination, the high school entrance examination has more channels for further education, and the requirements are not so high.

If you want to go to a good high school and don't want to brutally fight for the naked score of the high school entrance examination, it is more common and feasible to go on to higher education, I have sorted out the following three for you.

School quota to school (called quota allocation in other places)

In the past few years, one-third of the admission places in Beijing's top high schools have been given to the school, basically accounting for half of the unified enrollment.

What is the school quota to school? In other places, it is called quota allocation, that is, a good high school will allocate some places to each junior high school, as long as the child is admitted to the junior high school ranking, not with the whole district (in other places, the whole city) children to rank.

For example: if the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress gives your child 5 places in junior high school, if all the head children give priority to the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress, as long as the child ranks in the top 5 in the whole school, he can directly enter the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress, no matter what his total score in the high school entrance examination is (Beijing has a minimum score line, that is, the school quota cannot be lower than 570, and many provinces and cities in other places do not even have a minimum score line).

Do you think that it seems that the weaker the junior high school, the greater the discount for score reduction? Indeed, every year, children enter the top high school, but the score of the high school entrance examination is 50-60 points lower than the cut-off score.

But this also brings two problems, which everyone should consider clearly:

First of all, the weak in junior high school does not necessarily mean that children can be ranked at the top, most children are susceptible to environmental influences, strong when they are strong, and weak when they are weak.

Secondly, 5 or 60 points lower than the score line, but entered the high school attached to the National People's Congress, it seems that it has been earned, but the "debt" owed will have to be repaid sooner or later! Will the child not be able to keep up when he enters the High School Attached to the National People's Congress? Compared with other children who fight to score in, will they feel crushed and stressed?

Judging from the statistics of the six Xiaoqiang in Haidian, although it is not excluded that there are individual counterattacks of the children who enter the school through the school quota, most of them will still be ranked at the back of the school.

There is also a special kind of school quota to the school, which is the city-level co-ordination, which belongs to the cross-district school quota to the district, and it is Haidian Xicheng and other excellent high schools that give some admission places to other districts.

Direct promotion to the school or group school

Take Haidian Liuxiaoqiang High School as an example, about one-third of the places are given to the unified recruitment, that is, to fight for the score of the high school in the whole district, and one-third of the places are given to the school, that is, to fight the internal high school entrance examination ranking of the junior high school, so where did the remaining one-third of the places go?

The remaining one-third of this accounts for the majority of the direct promotion of the school or group school.

There are two types of direct lifting:

One is that when the small promotion first comes in, it is determined that it will be promoted directly without looking at the high school entrance examination scores, which is generally the top-notch innovative talent training plan approved by the Ministry of Education. For example, the early training of the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress, the innovation of the High School Affiliated to Tsinghua University, the 2+4 of the Eleventh, the Yuanpei of the High School Affiliated to Peking University, and so on. Because there is an urgent need for talents in this area in China, more attention has been paid to it in the past two years, and more new plans have been launched.

the other is that during the second and third years of junior high school, the top 30% of the students in the school, or the top few students in other branches in the group, have "signed a death contract" - that is, they do not look at the admission of the high school entrance examination; It's more of a "signing contract" - it still depends on the score of the high school entrance examination, but it is acceptable to be 10-20 points lower than the score line of the high school entrance examination, and if it is lower, the school registration may be placed in other schools within the group.

Then everyone has to say, the problem is that junior high school has to be in a good junior high school! This is the importance of junior high school, you need to pay attention to the situation and requirements of your target school in advance.

For example, the enrollment plan of the High School Affiliated to the National People's Congress in 2023 is 22 (outer district) + 13 (local district) = 35 people, but if the child has the potential in this area, you might as well try more from primary school. The college entrance examination has now canceled the art specialty students, the sports specialty students need national first-class athletes, and the mathematical science category is the gold and silver medals in the five major science Olympiads, which can be said to be a high threshold.

At present, many high-quality high schools in various provinces and cities still retain high-level art troupes and sports specialties, depending on the type of art troupe and sports specialties of that school. I have children of relatives and classmates in Hangzhou, who entered the top 6 high schools in Hangzhou through the path of art and sports talents, although the scores in the high school entrance examination are lower than the score line.

However, if the child has this specialty, it is recommended to figure out the rules at least three or four years in advance, get the certificate in advance, and at the same time clear the circle of contacts.

Compared with art and sports, the channels for students with science and technology specialties to go on to higher education will be more open and transparent, mainly based on the whitelist competitions announced by the Ministry of Education.

To rejuvenate the country through science and education, the state will pay more and more attention to the early training of scientific and technological talents, and will also introduce more training plans and ways to further their studies. It is highly recommended that everyone pay more attention and try and cultivate according to the child's situation.

Smart parents will plan one or two more backup plans for their children in advance, instead of only having the option of fighting for the naked score in the middle school entrance examination in the end - it is too cruel and stressful for parents and children.
