"Mao Xuan" (Volume 1) "Statement on Chiang Kai-shek's Statement", intensive reading (text)

author:Yang Gu reads the classics

The Xi'an Incident on December 12, 1936 stood on the side of the Red Army and was greatly influenced by the Red Army.

Because only by ending the civil war can we resist Japan.

If we want to fight for the War of Resistance, we must fight for Nanjing.

Oppose the new civil war, and settle the incident peacefully mainly between Nanjing and Xi'an on the basis of unity to resist Japan.

With the gradual encroachment of Japanese imperialism, the main contradiction in China has changed from an internal contradiction to a contradiction against Japanese aggression and the split of China.

The Xi'an Incident occurred because the Nanjing government did not immediately resist Japan, especially because of Chiang Kai-shek's policy of "suppressing bandits".

However, from a positive point of view, the Xi'an Incident was also "a bright side that can further promote the differentiation between anti-Japanese (forces) and pro-Japanese (forces) and make the War of Resistance against Japan more extensive."

Only by firmly standing on the anti-Japanese stand, carrying forward the good aspects, and striking at the dark aspects, can we accelerate the formation of the anti-Japanese united front of the whole nation.

It was also during this period that Chairman Mao completed one of the most important works in his life:

Strategic Issues of the Chinese Revolutionary War

"Mao Xuan" (Volume 1) "Statement on Chiang Kai-shek's Statement", intensive reading (text)

This work is not only a summary, but also points out the direction for the future Chinese revolution.

After arriving in northern Shaanxi in October 1935, the chairman began to write, and in December he made a report entitled "On the Tactics of Opposing Japanese Imperialism," which systematically resolved the problems of the party's political line during the Second Civil Revolutionary War.

Because of the Xi'an Incident, he stopped writing for a while, and then continued to write and systematically explain the problems related to the strategy of the Chinese revolutionary war, pointing out the direction for the revolution.

This is a long work, and I am going to divide it into several parts to elaborate on the Chair's views and specific methodology.

In fact, in terms of logical relationship, the next article of "Mao Xuan", "Statement on Chiang Kai-shek's Statement", is more relevant and shorter to the Xi'an Incident, and the final completion time is also before this one in chronological order.

background

The "Statement on Chiang Kai-shek's Statement" was completed on December 28, 1936, and was made by the chairman to refute Chiang Kai-shek's "Instructions to Zhang Yang" statement of December 26.

On December 25, Zhang Xueliang thought that Chiang Kai-shek had promised the terms of the peace talks, and was afraid that there would be complications internally after a long time, so at the request of Song Ziwen, he agreed to Chiang Kai-shek's departure from Xi'an on the same day.

He did not tell anyone in advance, and even Premier Zhou did not inform him, but at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, he took Yang Hucheng to accompany Chiang Kai-shek and his wife to the airport by car, and personally escorted them back to Nanjing.

Before leaving, Chiang Kai-shek said to Zhang and Yang: "If there was a civil war before today, you are responsible; If there is a civil war after today, I am responsible. I will never suppress the CCP in the future. ”

It is said that listening to his words and watching his deeds, listening to what Lao Jiang said does seem to be like that, in fact, it is similar to Sima Yi's pointing out Luoshui fart back then.

Zhang Xueliang was too chivalrous but seriously inexperienced, and after accompanying Chiang Kai-shek back to Nanjing, he was detained and imprisoned by Chiang Kai-shek for more than half a century.

If you have read the final chapter of the Long March - Bloody Battle of the Mountain Castle and the strategic issues of the Chinese Revolutionary War in "Mao Xuan" (Volume 1) and "Mao Xuan" (Volume 1) the strategic issues of China's revolutionary war, you will be able to understand the current policies and actions of the CCP, and you will be able to understand the current policies and actions of the CCP, and the propositions mentioned in this article by the chairman will be clearer.

The chairman made it clear in the article that the content of the article "Instructions to Zhang Yang" is vague and tortuous, and it is really an interesting article in Chinese political literature.

If Chiang wants to draw a profound lesson from this incident, and to make efforts to build a new life for the Kuomintang, to put an end to his traditional erroneous policy of compromising with the outside world, using troops at home, and oppressing the people, and to guide the Kuomintang to a position that is not contrary to the wishes of the people, then he should have a better article that politically regrets the past and opens up the future, so as to show his sincerity. The statement of 26 December could not meet the demands of the Chinese people.

There is a commendable passage in Chiang's statement, that is, the paragraph in which he said, "Words must be believed, and deeds must be fruitful."

It means that he did not sign the conditions put forward by Zhang Yang in Xi'an, but he was willing to accept those demands that were beneficial to the country and the nation, and would not be dishonest because he did not sign. We will see after Chiang withdraws his troops whether he is trustworthy and whether he fulfills the conditions he promised.

Chiang's statement also included the statement that the Xi'an Incident was surrounded by "reactionaries." It is a pity that Chiang did not explain what kind of figures he was referring to as a "reactionary," nor did he know how the word "reactionary" in Chiang's dictionary was explained.

The chairman said, however, that Chiang Kai-shek's so-called "reactionaries" were called "revolutionaries."

Chiang should remember that the reason why he was able to leave Xi'an safely was that apart from General Zhang Yanger, the leader of the Xi'an Incident, the mediation of the Communist Party was real and powerful.

The Communist Party advocated a peaceful settlement in the Xi'an Incident and made various efforts to achieve it, all from the viewpoint of national survival. It is also the opinion of the people of the whole country, because the current civil war is hated by the people.

At the end of this article, the chairman said that the Communist Party's "words must be believed and deeds must be fruitful" have long been recognized by the people of the whole country over the past 15 years.

As for whether Chiang Kai-shek will be able to fulfill his promises, it will be up to him to see what he does.

summary

The article is very brief, and the chairman refutes Chiang Kai-shek's statement in a very witty way and reminds him of what he will do next: if the old Chiang turns his face and denies people and treats what he says as a blank check, then he will inevitably stand in opposition to the whole Chinese people.

Because on the question of resolutely resisting Japan, the people of the whole country will not allow Chiang to have any room for manoeuvring and discounting.

Of course, Chairman Mao had expectations for the formation of the anti-Japanese national united front after the Xi'an Incident, but it was bright but tortuous.

light

The Xi'an Incident was not accidental, because the Kuomintang had begun to waver, had been brewing for a long time, and their internal contradictions had developed to the highest level, so the Xi'an Incident resolved this contradiction, which was the focus of the brewing and ripening of the current situation, and the beginning of a new stage of epoch-making changes.

tortuous

Although the Xi'an Incident has achieved such a major gain, not all problems have been solved, and obstacles will still occur in the middle, and the task ahead is still very arduous.

First of all, although the cooperation between the KMT and the Communist Party has been said for a long time, it has not yet been realized, and the issue of the alliance with Russia is also in flux.

Secondly, the struggle for the middle class, the national bourgeoisie, is also very arduous.

Finally, although Chiang Kai-shek made a major promise to stop the civil war and cooperate in the fight against Japan when he was in Xi'an, after he regained his freedom, his attitude also changed, and the situation also had twists and turns.
