Have you ever wanted to travel to a tropical, multicultural and modern city?
If you have, then Singapore might be the way to go. I was attracted by this temptation and decided to go from Beijing to Singapore to experience it.
This is my first time to Singapore and my first time to Southeast Asia, so I am full of curiosity and anticipation about the city.
I wanted to see what makes Singapore attractive enough to grow from a small fishing village to a cosmopolitan city.
I wanted to try Singapore's food and taste its diverse culture. I want to feel the climate of Singapore and enjoy the tropical atmosphere.
I wanted to explore the sights of Singapore and discover its history and modernity. So, I started my trip to Singapore.
Traffic:
There are many flights from Beijing to Singapore, and the price is not expensive, it takes about six hours. When I arrived in Singapore, I found the transportation here very convenient, with subway, buses, taxis all very convenient, and the prices are reasonable.
The metro covers the whole island and can reach almost all attractions and business districts. There are also many buses, and there is a system of information stations in both English and Chinese.
Taxis are expensive, but they are easy to get and the drivers are friendly and professional. I recommend that when you travel in Singapore, you can buy an EZ-Link Card, which can be used on the subway and buses, which is very convenient.
Delicacies:
Singapore is a food paradise with food from various countries and regions such as China, Malaysia, India, Thailand, etc., and the prices are not expensive.
The most emblematic is the Hawker Centre, which has a variety of stalls selling a variety of delicacies, such as Hainanese chicken rice, curry fish head, bak kut tea, laksa, nyonya cake and so on.
Each one is mouthwatering and generous in portions. Hawker centres are usually clean and hygienic, and there is a rating system so you can feel free to try it out.
In addition to hawker centres, Singapore has plenty of upscale restaurants and specialty restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
My favorite is Lau Pa Sat, a restaurant called "Lao Pa Sa" near Chinatown, which has a lot of variety of cuisine, and there are open-air barbecue stalls in the evenings selling a variety of seafood and meat, which is very lively and delicious.
Attractions:
Singapore has a lot to offer, whether you like nature, history, modern architecture, or entertainment, you'll find the right place.
My favourite is Gardens by the Bay, home to two huge greenhouses showcasing the plants and landscapes of Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, which are spectacular and beautiful.
There is also a row of artificial trees up to 50 meters high, called Supertree Grove, which will have a light and music show at night, which is very shocking and romantic.
In addition to Gardens by the Bay, I went to Singapore Zoo, Sentosa Island, Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Flyer, Merlion Park and many more, each of which impressed me and some even amazed me.
Lodging:
There are many accommodation options in Singapore, from youth hostels, budget hotels, business hotels to luxury hotels, resorts, and B&Bs, all of which can be chosen according to your preferences and budget.
I stayed at a hotel near Chinatown called Chinatown Heritage Centre, a historic hotel with rooms decorated and furnished in an old-time style, making it feel like you've traveled back in time.
The location of the hotel is also good, close to the metro station and hawker center, and there are also many shops and restaurants around, which is very convenient. The service at the hotel was also good, the staff were all welcoming and professional, giving me a lot of tourist information and advice.
Culture:
Singapore is a multicultural country with people from different races, religions, languages, backgrounds living in harmony and respecting each other, creating a unique Singaporean culture.
While traveling in Singapore, I can feel the diversity and inclusiveness of this culture.
For example, in Chinatown, I can see Chinese-style buildings, temples, archways, etc.; In Little India, I can see Indian-style shops, temples, costumes, etc.;
In Kampong Glam, I can see Malay-style mosques, malls, galleries, etc. These different cultural elements blend together to form a unique atmosphere and atmosphere.
When I traveled in Singapore, I also learned some local manners and customs, such as adding "la", "chow", "boo" and other endings to indicate tone or emotion when speaking English;
For example, use your right hand or chopsticks or spoon when eating, not your left hand or fork or knife; For example, when entering a temple or mosque, take off your shoes or wear long-sleeved trousers.
Through this trip to Singapore, I have gained a deeper and more comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the city.
I found Singapore not only to be a modern, developed, clean and safe city, but also a city full of enthusiasm, color, and fun, and a city worth learning, respecting and appreciating.
I like the scenery of Singapore, I also like the people of Singapore, and I like the spirit of Singapore. I think Singapore is a great tourist destination and a great purpose to live.
If you have the chance, be sure to visit Singapore to feel its charm and temperament. I'm sure you'll share my deep love and admiration for this city.
