Chen Shubao (553–604), courtesy name Yuanxiu ,nicknamed Huang Nu ,黄奴), was a native of Changcheng County, Wuxing County (present-day Changxing County, Zhejiang). The last emperor of the Southern Dynasty Chen Dynasty (reigned from 582 to 589), the eldest son of The Chen Xuan Emperor Chen Huan, his mother was Empress Liu Jingyan.

In the first year of the Chen Dynasty Tiankang (566), he was awarded the title of general of Ningyuan (宁遠將軍), and was transferred to the post of Prince Zhongshu (中庶子) and Shizhong (侍中). In the first year of Taijian (569), he was made crown prince. In the fourteenth year of Taijian (582), the emperor took the throne. During his reign, he abandoned the government, indulged in wine, and became obsessed with poetry and music. In the third year of Zhenming (589), the Sui army marched south in a big way, attacked Guangling, Jingkou and the capital Jiankang, and destroyed the Chen Dynasty. Chen Shubao was taken captive to Chang'an and made the Duke of Changcheng County. Emperor Yang Jian of sui gave him a mansion with great courtesy. In the fourth year of the Sui Dynasty (604), Chen Shubao died of illness in Luoyang at the age of fifty-two, posthumously awarded the title of Grand General, and was buried in Luoyang.
