Multiple earthquakes in northwest Afghanistan?
On the 7th local time, a number of earthquakes occurred in northwest Afghanistan, two of which had a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was near the northwestern city of Herat, where the earthquake killed 2,053 people, injured 9,240 and damaged or destroyed 1,328 homes, according to the Afghan Ministry of Disasters. Afghan interim government spokesman Mujahid said the Afghan interim government has instructed all relevant military and service organizations in the country to urgently go to the earthquake-stricken area of Herat province to participate in the rescue.

For Afghanistan, where one-third of the population already struggles to feed and survive, the country and its people are so vulnerable between earthquakes.
