Wrists flutter, spatulas dancing, oil splashes, and hot air on the stovetop. Stir-fry, stew, roast, stew, every step of the way the chefs are at ease. On September 28, the first village chef competition in Tongwan Town, Zhongfang County, stirred diners.

At 9 a.m., the basketball court in Tongwan Village, Tongwan Township, was crowded, and the villagers and tourists of Shiliba Township filled the place. Twenty-one Tongwan chefs from all over Huaihua are competing in culinary skills, wielding knives and spoons on their respective stoves.

"My dishes for today's competition are Tongwan snails and stir-fried yellow beef." Yang Xiaomei, a villager in Tongwan Town and Village, told reporters that she has loved stir-frying since she was a child, and saw that village cadres posted relevant information about the village chef competition in the WeChat group, and signed up as soon as possible with the encouragement of her family. "My cooking skills were developed by myself, and my husband said that the dishes I stir-fry are delicious, and I must show my hands today."

"I can't forget homesickness wherever I go, Tian Luo is my homesickness, I relied on the dish of Tongwan Tian Luo to gain a foothold in the big city, and now I have a successful career." Zhou Qifu from Maxijiang Village, Tongwan Town, who specially came from Huaihua to participate in the competition, told reporters that his hometown has good idyllic scenery and great potential for developing rural tourism, and is considering returning to his hometown to develop the field snail industry and help rural revitalization.

After 90 minutes of cooking, one delicious dish after another was brought to the table, Tongwan field snail, Tongwan hairy dog, Tongwan river fish, white oil belly....... The fragrance is mouthwatering. Through the on-site scoring of the judges, 4 awards were selected: the Best Cooking Award, the Best Taste "Tongwan Field Snail" Award, the Most Creative "Tongwan Tian Snail" Award, and the Most Potential Award.

"Tongwan field snail is a famous dish we have here, when boiling field snail, you must use a pressure cooker to press, can not use low heat slow simmering, because the more stewed the snail, the more woody the meat, the taste is not good, and the taste pressed out is more Q elastic." Best Culinary Award winner Zhou Qifu shared.
