During the Republic of China period, the maritime painting world was magnificent and famous. After succeeding bo nian pioneer Hai PaiFeng, with Wu Changshuo as the holder of the bull's ear, the art forest became more and more lush and vibrant. Among the famous people on the sea, Only Wang Yiting was personally taught by Bo Nian, and he was also a teacher and friend of Wu Changshuo.
Wang Yiting (1867~1938)
Wang Yiting paints all kinds of figures, flowers and birds, and landscapes, especially the Zen Buddha theme, and can be called an all-round painter. His figure painting inherits Ren Bonian's creative concept and civilian art form, the character shape is vivid and appropriately deformed and exaggerated, the emotional portrayal of mood and sorrow is delicate, compared with the calm face of traditional figure painting, it is not only more lifelike, but also shows Wang Yiting's modern humanistic consciousness as a figure painter.
His flower and bird paintings are influenced by Wu Changshuo, tending to be broad-stroked, with rich colors, smooth pen and ink, majestic and realistic, deep in the meaning of old gold stones, poetry, calligraphy and painting are integrated. No wonder Wu Changshuo gave the poet Wang Yiting: "Born strange to be born in a pavilion, pen casting pig iron ink cold rain." ”
In addition to his artistic reputation, Wang Yiting can be described as a huge energy on the sea of the Republic of China. When Shanghai was restored, Wang Yiting led the Shanghai Revolutionary Army to charge into the battlefield, and his son, as the captain of the death squad, attacked the manufacturing bureau and made great contributions to Shanghai in the Republic of China. During the Republic of China period, Wang Yiting served as the chairman of the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, successively served as the director of the Shanghai branch of the Chinese Kuomintang, the minister of transportation of the military government, and the chief of commerce. Description: The ten-screen giant production is really rare to see, and in the golden autumn october of the Republic of China period, it is not easy to gather the top ten masters of The Haipai Painted Chrysanthemum. These ten screens are actually a representative work of the floral art of the Maritime School. In addition to Wang Yiting and Lu Bolong's masters and apprentices who won with capital strokes, Xie Gongzhan was famous for writing chrysanthemums in Shanghai, known as "Xie Jiaju". After middle age, Wu Kasaxian specialized in gongbi painting chrysanthemums, laying the foundation for the "Wu Ju School" in Yangzhou. In addition, Chen Mo, Jin Mengshi, Liu Bin, Shang Yanzhi, Hong Qi, and Huang Xiaoyan are all famous flower artists on the sea, and they are also known as chrysanthemums with longevity flowers, which is a masterpiece of blessing life.

This painting of "Infinite Life Buddha" is vivid and natural, quite a breath of life. The most unique thing is the exquisite portrayal of the expression of the Buddha statue. In his pen, the joys and sorrows of the Buddha statue are portrayed very delicately, giving the characters personality. Compared with the traditional Buddha painting in which the face is indifferent and the smoke and clouds are provided, Wang Yiting's Buddha painting has a modern humanistic consciousness. Its couplet flanks are integrated into it, the so-called "center takes the quality, the flanker takes the yan", so even if there is no relationship between these words, but they echo each other, forming a whole that takes care of each other. The more backward the stroke, the stronger the stroke. And the content complements the picture, which is really rare.

After becoming the second deputy forest chief of the World Buddhist Resident Shilin in 1924, Wang Yiting began to gradually run as a Buddhist community, and the Infinite Life Buddha also began to become Wang Zhen's favorite theme. On the opening day of Changming Art College and China Academy of Literature and Art, Wang Yiting painted Dharma and his body as a demonstration painting method, and served as a summer Chinese painting teacher at Changming Art College. Wang Zhen's will and painting skills are presented on this subject.
Chen Yuezhou's "Immeasurable Life Buddha Calligraphy and Painting" witnesses Wang Yiting's past as a maritime commercial builder. As early as 1921, Mu Xiangyao and Chen Yuezhou father and son established the Yangsi Disaster Relief Association, in order to promote domestic goods and boycott foreign goods, Mu Xiangyao and Chen Yuezhou founded the Evergrande Spinning Factory in Yangsi Town South Street, when the production of "airplane brand" cotton yarn, marketing at home and abroad. Chen Yuezhou has left few records in history, but in-depth history, just a few lines, is enough to see the heart of the people who built the society in Shanghai when they were at sea.

In November 1929, the Sino-Japanese Modern Painting Exhibition opened in Shanghai, with Wang Yiting as the emcee of the opening ceremony, and Pingshang Sadaji, then minister of cultural affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivering a speech at the opening ceremony. According to the "Long Compilation of Wang Yiting's Annals", Wang Yiting's "Hanshan Pick-up" is exhibited here. This calligraphy and painting was painted in the early winter of 1929, and the time coincides with the exhibition, which is a work of the same period. Cai Yuanpei also wrote calligraphy for Zhen'er Pingshang, and some books have survived.
In the late 1920s, the calligraphy and painting screen was the special creation of Wang Yiting, and in 1926, the calligraphy and painting screen made by the Marquis of Okuma, the founder of Waseda University, survived, or was related to Japanese customs.
