Judging from the previous blockade and suppression of Huawei by the United States and the West, the United States first moved, and then put pressure on its allies, and the primary target was Germany and France, the two EU "bosses". However, now Germany and France have not made any moves, but this humble Portugal has jumped out.
In the past few years, there has been little conflict or even dispute between China and Portugal. As Portugal's largest trading partner in Asia, China and Portugal also have very close economic exchanges, and Chinese companies have invested hundreds of billions of euros in Portugal.
But the reason why it wants to attack a Chinese company is because the country is closer to the United States than China. After the American Revolution, Portugal was the first to establish diplomatic relations with the United States, and it has been 230 years since the two countries established formal diplomatic relations. With the development of Atlantic shipping and aviation, economic and trade exchanges between the two countries are very frequent. More importantly, Portugal is also one of the founding members of NATO, an important ally of the United States in Europe, and even has American troops stationed on its territory.
Now with the deterioration of Sino-US relations, Portugal, which is behind it, naturally wants to make an appearance to show the United States, and Huawei is the best target it can target.

However, as a small European country, even if it kills Huawei, it can bring little substantial lethality to Huawei, and the only possible adverse impact is to play a demonstration role in Europe and let other countries follow suit.
However, the most unexpected thing for China is that in the face of Portugal's ban, the EU side has rarely spoken for China.
After learning of the Portuguese ban, the EU took the lead in dissociating itself from itself, saying that the ban was completely Portugal's own decision, and the EU was just providing assessment guidance. In addition, European Commission Commissioner Brighton also directly criticized the Portuguese side, saying that if there is a problem with Huawei products, it should be reasonably controlled by EU member states, so the comprehensive blockade and exclusion is obviously excessive.
After all, Huawei is now the world's leading 5G technology and equipment supplier, with more than 3,000 5G patents, many European countries and Huawei 5G cooperation, if Portugal excludes Huawei, the cost of European operators will increase significantly, and the deployment and coverage of European 5G networks will be delayed. More importantly, for Portugal itself, it is likely that the attack on Huawei is not to kill a thousand enemies and self-damage 800, but to kill 800 enemies and self-damage 1,000.
First of all, Portugal does lag behind other European powers in the field of science and technology. As the world's leading supplier of 5G technology, Huawei has played a crucial role in the construction of Portugal's 5G network. If you choose to block Huawei, it will not only hinder the progress of 5G network construction and application, but also further widen the gap between Portugal and other European countries in this regard.
Secondly, China plays an integral role in Portugal's economy. At present, China is already the fourth largest foreign investor in Portugal. Chinese investment covers key areas such as energy, electricity and finance, bringing a lot of financial and technical support to Portugal. If the Portuguese side abandons the spirit of the legal economy in this way, then other Chinese companies will definitely consider the safety of investment, after all, it is Huawei that is banned, and it may be itself tomorrow.
For Huawei, filing a lawsuit against a government shows that its own strength makes it dare to fight. But if this lawsuit is to be fought in Portugal, the odds of victory and defeat may not be 50:50, on the one hand, because the Portuguese ban adopts vague standards and is not easy to be overturned or modified by the courts, on the other hand, it is a government action, using the so-called national security as a defense, and the short-term European judicial system will certainly provide it with asylum.
