All-view arena | Kokuba doubles is in crisis! The legs of the two Olympic standings events are even more lame than in the previous cycle

What would happen if the Paris Olympic points tournament in badminton ended last week? The situation is that Guoyu can only have one pair in the women's doubles and men's doubles events to qualify for the Olympic Games, of course, this is only the author's assumption. However, if Kokuba does not get out of the current unfavorable situation in the next seven months, the hypothesis will become a reality.

On September 12, the Badminton World Federation announced the latest Olympic standings. In men's doubles, Wang Chang/Leung Wai Keng, Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi and He Jiting ranked 4th, 13th and 20th respectively. According to the women's doubles rankings, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, Zhang Shuxian/Zheng Yu, Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning, Li Wenmei/Liu Xuanxuan ranked 1st, 9th, 17th and 20th respectively.

The rules related to badminton at the Paris Olympics show that in the three doubles events of men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles, the same team can send up to 2 pairs in the same event, provided that the Olympic ranking ranks in the top eight. This means that at the end of the Olympic points competition at the end of April next year, Guoyu will not be able to have more combinations in the women's doubles and men's doubles to reach the top eight of the ranking table, and Wang Chang/Liang Weiheng, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan can only become the men's doubles and women's doubles singles seedlings in the national badminton Olympic team. Once this happens, the overall scale of national badminton Olympic participation will fall to an all-time low.

Since badminton entered the Olympic Games, there have been no less than two individual seats in each Olympic badminton for a long time, a proud record that was broken two years ago, when only Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen crossed the threshold of the Tokyo Olympics in the men's doubles, and the second doubles Han Chengkai/Zhou Haodong failed to make the shortlist.

Since 1996, Guoyu has won 20 gold medals in the Olympic Games, 11 of which came in doubles, and doubles has also created a record of winning gold medals in seven consecutive Olympic Games, which is a height that has not been reached in singles. However, in recent years, the overall advantage of the national doubles has weakened, the men's doubles has not been able to reach the commanding heights, the overall strength of the women's doubles no longer has an advantage, and the mixed doubles has encountered a strong impact from the Koreans. Once only one pair of men's doubles and only one pair of women's doubles enters the Olympic Games in seven months, the overall competitiveness of Guoyu in the Paris Olympics will be affected.
