Fuji City (Japanese: 藤士市/ふじし) is a city in eastern Shizuoka Prefecture, with a special exception at the time of implementation. It has the third largest population in Shizuoka Prefecture. It is also the administrative, commercial, and industrial center of the Fuji metropolitan area. Many paper mills such as Nippon Paper (old Showa Paper) and Oji Paper were located here, and during the post-war economic growth period, many paper factories dumped wastewater into the sea, and air pollution caused serious social problems. Fuji City is located south of Japan's tallest mountain, Mount Fuji, facing Suruga Bay. According to 2006 statistics, Mt. Fuji can be seen on 192 days a year (116 days in all, 76 days in part), and Fuji City is the only place where you can see Mt. Honaga, the largest parasitic volcano of Mt. Fuji, so there will be a corner of Mt. Fuji depicted by local documents and residents.
