Having moved to Malta for four years, have I adjusted to life there?

author:Chengdu Plus Immigration

Mr. Zhong and his wife studied in New Zealand and returned to China to start their own company after graduation. The Malta application was submitted in October 2017 and approved on 30 August 2018. Since 2019, Mr. Chung and his wife have settled in Malta with their two daughters.

Recently, we invited Mr. Zhong to share with us the education and life situation in Malta, and the following are some of the shares.

1. Is it recommended to immigrate to Malta?

2. What is education like in Malta?

3. Is life in Malta easy?

01

Is it recommended to immigrate to Malta?

Amy: Are there many Chinese around you in Malta?

Mr. Zhong:

Now there are many Chinese in Malta. It will be the Mid-Autumn Festival soon, and the Mid-Autumn Festival will soon be on the 29th of this month. At least a few hundred people, the entire park may not be able to accommodate so many people. A lot of people, really.

Amy: I want to ask, why did you want to move from Canada to another country in the first place? Why Malta?

Mr. Zhong:

At that time, I thought Malta was the fastest. I don't think anything else because I want to get out quickly. At that time, for our family, whichever country was fast, we went to which country. Greece didn't want to go because Greece didn't speak English and wasn't suitable for our family. For our family, it must be an English-speaking country, not an English-speaking country does not consider, Malta is English-speaking.

Of course, I still say that, in fact, if you can choose, you can really have the conditions and ability, the first choice is still the United States, if you give me a choice, that is, the United States, Britain and Canada, I don't think much about other countries, because these countries are really good, there is nothing to say. That is, if there are qualified families, they still have to go to these countries.

Amy: Actually, I think what Mr. Zhong said is also very realistic, because for immigrants, the first is where you want to go, and the second is where can you go? In the end, we make the best choice between the two phases. In addition to the United States, Canada and Australia, Malta is the fastest and only English-speaking country, and indeed many customers will choose. Landed in 2019, is it always in Malta now?

Mr. Zhong:

I'm in Malta all my time now, my family is making my home here, jobs, social security, taxes are all here, and we're really here.

02

How is education in Malta?

Amy: I think you have a very good mentality, that is, you choose not to regret it, and then you can integrate into and have a very happy life after landing. Are you both in Malta? I would like you to show up and talk about the education of the two children, what do you think? How is it compared to our domestic situation?

Mr. Zhong:

In terms of education, as far as English is concerned, it is not comparable in China. In China, whether you go to an international school or a private school, children do not have this language environment. We speak English as a family, we don't speak Chinese, we try to speak English.

If you look at my circle of friends, you can know that my daughter's spoken English is all full marks. The environment is there, in the country, no matter how good the school, after all, there is no environment, there is no way to compare. The domestic high school English is the junior high school here, and it may be elementary school, anyway, the difference is too far.

Amy: I heard that your two children are also learning to draw and sail after school, right?

Mr. Zhong:

Sailing is not learned now, now I am learning horsemanship, and you can learn anything here.

Amy: As we just introduced with Lisa, Malta belongs to the aristocratic education of the commoners, so can you share, for example, equestrian is a relatively high-end after-school cram school in China, is this also true in Malta? Or can everyone learn it, and how much does it cost?

Mr. Zhong:

In Malta, girls have to learn horsemanship and boys have to play football. This is a normal thing, it should be learned, this is their popular movement. The fee is similar to that of piano lessons, but piano lessons depend on the level of the child.

Here came a lot of parents, children have been learning piano in China, go abroad or learn, have been learning, some children play the piano particularly well, want to go to Austria in the future, you can also continue to study in Malta, in fact, to be honest, European education must be good, needless to say, if your child has musical talent, then you must go to Austria.

Amy: What are your plans for your two daughters? Will you go to the UK or other countries in the future?

Mr. Zhong:

No, it mainly depends on which country they can go to. Because where they want to go, their parents can't grasp it, it depends on where they can take the exam, the whole world can go, or go back to test overseas Chinese students is also their own choice. Or don't take any school, you can also go to college or MCAST here, that is, there are many roads that can go, it is really different, really.

Amy: You're actually quite following the children's own wishes, and it's more about giving them the freedom to make their own choices and release their nature and strengths.

Mr. Zhong:

For parents, I think it's great to bring them out, because it's really not easy. Emigrating abroad, this is really not an easy thing, not ordinary people can do it.

Are many people going abroad? Proportionally, too little is too little. People who can go abroad, first of all, do you have cognition, many people can't have this cognition, even if they have conditions, I believe that there are many people with conditions in China, but how many can come out? There are not many, cognition is the most important.

03

Is life in Malta easy?

Amy: Cognition determines the horizon and determines the way of behavior. So you have been in Malta for so long, I want you to tell you about your life in all aspects, is it convenient to travel? Malta is just an island, so some of the shopping situation we live in, and some how house prices have changed in recent years, you can give us a brief introduction.

Mr. Zhong:

Malta is indeed small, but it depends on what you think of it. For me, in fact, the 26 Schengen countries as a whole can be regarded as a country, because there are no visa requirements, just go anywhere.

When we go to other countries, we don't need to take a passport, at most we bring an identity card, we don't look at anything when we go, we may have to look at the identity card when we come back, and sometimes we may not look at it. You can go by car, last time I drove 1500 km to Milan.

In addition, after registering a company in Malta, doing business in other countries can also reduce a large part of personal income tax.

Having moved to Malta for four years, have I adjusted to life there?

Amy: Yes, Malta is the Singapore of the Mediterranean. Even though Malta itself is small, all the Schengen countries are like a large country, and the countries, like each province, are very smooth and free.

Mr. Zhong:

Because first of all the currency is the same, it is the euro. Secondly, there are no visa restrictions, and with the Malta Permanent Residence Card, 26 countries can travel freely.

The most important thing is that opening a company in Malta and then going to Italy, France, Germany, Cyprus to do business, is not to pay high taxes in those countries, you can pay taxes in Malta, and you can also get tax refunds, which is very good.

Malta is a very good country in terms of taxes, education and livability, and among the countries currently available in Europe, Malta is the only country whose official language is English, and the threshold for processing is relatively low.
