At 2:45 a.m. Beijing time on September 8, the Netherlands played Greece at home in the fifth round of Group B of the European Cup qualifying group stage. In the first half, De Jong scored to break the deadlock, and Dumfries assisted Gakpo and Weghorst to extend the score; Neither side scored in the second half. In the end, the Netherlands beat Greece 3-0 at home and are currently second in Group B with six points, two wins and one defeat in three games, nine points behind leaders France with two games less.

In the 14th minute, Greece's cross from the left was cleared by Ake at the back post, and Rota's volley from the line of the penalty area deflected off the left line. In the 17th minute, the Netherlands took a corner kick from the left side, Dumfries nodded the ball back, and De Jong scored a direct volley near the penalty spot to score the first goal of his senior national team career, giving the Netherlands a 1-0 lead!

In the 77th minute, the Netherlands replaced Fellmann and replaced De Jong. In the 85th minute, the Netherlands sent on Matthijs de Ligt to replace Dumfries. In the 90th minute, the Netherlands quickly counterattacked, Noah Lang went straight from the left and Weghorst shot deflected from the left of the box.
Soon after, the Netherlands beat Greece 3-0 at home to finish second in Group B.
