The J-11 was born out of the Su-27 and escorted the development of fourth-generation fighters

Its original products are derived from self-assembled Su-27 fighters, which are imported from the mainland in large quantities and are being upgraded and modified.

Therefore, the thrust J-11BG is by no means a simple upgrade and modification, at least over-the-horizon launch and interception functions have been realized.
The J-11B itself has excellent flight performance, a relatively short service life, and a long period of resumption in the future, which has great combat significance.
Upgrading it, combined with the latest technology developed by the Chinese Air Force, can achieve a benchmark against the US F15C.
Combined with the J-16 fighters already installed on Woody Island, a combination of high-low fighters can play a greater value in safeguarding military sovereignty in the South China Sea.
And according to the modification experience of the J-11 BG, we can accumulate the mainland's own upgrade technology, which will be applied to advanced fighters such as the J-15, J-16, and J-20 in the future.
