The Sun Yefang Prize for Economic Science, established in the name of the late economist Mr. Sun Yefang, is recognized as the highest award in The Chinese economic community. The Sun Yefang Economic Science Prize was established and selected in 1984 and is selected and awarded every two years.

Born in October 1908, Sun Yefang, formerly known as Xue Caoguo, a native of Yuqi Town, Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, is an economist and proletarian revolutionary, and one of the most influential economists in modern Chinese history. He is the author of "Drafts on Socialist Economy" and other works. Sun Yefang and his close friend Gu Zhun are hailed as the precursors of reform in economics. In 1956, they were the first to point out that "the question of commodity production under socialism must be studied." After the reform and opening up, Sun Yefang served as a member of the Fifth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and an adviser to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
In February 1983, Sun Yefang died. In June of the same year, the "Sun Yefang Economic Science Reward Fund Committee" was established in Beijing, and later renamed "Sun Yefang Economic Science Foundation". This establishment plan was originally proposed by Sun Yefang's old friends Xue Huiqiao, Xu Xuehan and others. Before Sun Yefang's death, in 1982, Xu Xuehan talked to him about this plan, and according to Sun Yefang's adopted daughter Li Zhao, "Sun Yefang never paid attention to his own affairs, only this time... He had always disapproved of proclaiming himself, but had not objected to his name. I think, one is to thank old friends, and the other is to feel meaningful."
Today, the Sun Yefang Economic Science Award has been selected for 18 sessions. This is the 19th session, and 3 books and 4 papers have been selected. The publication period is from June 22 to July 21, 2021.

Among them, the selected works in the book category, "Land System and China Development", were published in 2018, and were awarded the "Top Ten Good Books" of the Beijing News in 2018, and were also the only economic books selected. In the book "Land System and China Development", the author Liu Shouying has participated in the reform of the land system and local experimental design, and in the book "Land System and China Development", he presents the real land problems and reform dilemmas to readers through first-hand investigation at the grassroots level. Liu Shouying discussed the continuous reform of the land system at the level of academic theory and policy research, reconstructed the relationship of land rights in rural areas with ownership, contracting rights and management rights as the center, and reduced the dependence on land capital in urban development methods and institutional arrangements.
