Chu Yuqiang, 48, who was born in a Lisu and Jingpo family, said that in order to reflect the ethnic unity of the family, his father went to the police station shortly after birth to register his Lisu surname "Chu", while "nationality" was registered as "Jingpo".
A native of Chu Yuqiang, he never left Katama before he became an adult, and he has a lot of affection for Katama. Recalling his childhood years, Chu Yuqiang was full of emotion. At that time, he said, all the families in the village were very poor, living in thatched houses, eating corn and wearing ragged clothes that had been mended and mended. Katama has cold weather and will suffer a great deal in winter, so having a pair of shoes of your own used to be a luxury.
Although it was very poor, the people in the village were very united, and there was never any ethnic barrier, often Lisu men married Jingpo women, and Bai women married Jingpo men.
Chu Yuqiang said that thatched houses are not strong at all, and they will have to be demolished and rebuilt once in three years at most, so the dry winter season becomes the building season every year. No matter which house is built, every family, old and young in the village will go to help.

Chu Yuqiang is most grateful to the party and government in his life. Chu Yuqiang's village has become a well-off border village, with every family living in new buildings and many families driving cars.

Due to his outstanding work performance, as early as 2012, Chu Yuqiang won the honorary title of national "Excellent Boundary Worker". In 2020, he won the honorary title of "Yunnan Province Model Individual for National Unity and Progress".
