In the remote mountainous areas of the mainland, some children suffering from congenital heart disease, due to family difficulties, remote living and backward hygiene concepts, do not detect the disease in time, delay treatment, lose the opportunity for surgery, or even if they are discovered, they have no money for treatment, make mistakes again and again, and even lose their lives. In order to let these children with congenital heart disease regain their "heart" life, H&H Public Welfare went to remote mountainous areas for 11 consecutive years to carry out the "Angel Journey" screening and treatment activities for children with congenital heart disease, invested a total of 6.5 million yuan in public welfare project funds, screened 200,000 people, and actually treated 372 children with congenital heart disease through surgery.
H&H Public Welfare insists on carrying out the "Angel Journey" activity
Since its launch in 2013, with the original intention of "protecting mothers and babies, mothers less worried", Biostime Maternal and Child Rescue Fund, China Red Cross Foundation and hospitals have launched the "Angel Journey" long-term project for screening and treatment of children with congenital heart disease. For 11 consecutive years, the "Angel Journey" has reached remote mountainous areas, covering Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan Honghe Prefecture, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Yunnan Nujiang Prefecture, Shanxi, Guizhou, Hunan and other places, carrying out congenital heart disease screening and rescue operations for hundreds of thousands of children.
From August 14th to August 17th, the China Red Cross Foundation Biostime Maternal and Child Rescue Fund, together with Beijing Anzhen Hospital, went to Huayuan County, Baojing County, Yongshun County, Pingjiang County and Changsha City in Hunan to carry out the 2023 "Angel Journey - Screening and Rescue Action for Children with Congenital Heart Disease". In four days, he traveled to five locations and drove nearly 1,300 kilometers, screened a total of 203 children, examined 84 people with ultrasound, and 61 people met the indications for surgery. Children who meet the indications for surgery will receive free surgical treatment at Beijing Anzhen Hospital.
At this year's screening event, a father and daughter nervously came to the staff with an examination report: "Can you really help your child treat congenital heart disease?" It turned out that 7-year-old Xiaoying (pseudonym) had been diagnosed with congenital heart disease before, but because his father was disabled and his family was in difficulty, he had no choice but to give up surgical treatment, and Xiaoying's father blamed himself very much for "not wanting to delay the child's life". Fortunately, this year's "Angel Tour" came to their hometown, and Xiaoying will receive free relief through the "Angel Tour" project.
There is also a special child Kang Kang (pseudonym) at the screening site, who was diagnosed with congenital heart disease last year through the "Angel Journey" screening operation, and also with the help of "Angel Journey", he successfully completed free treatment. This year, he came to the screening site again for re-examination, and after the doctor's diagnosis, Kang Kang has fully recovered, two "angel journeys", a fate born of love, so that the lively and cheerful Kang Kang has a new wonderful life.
H&H Charity brings hope to families of sick children
Just after the end of this "angel tour" operation, two families rushed to the screening site, and the parents held their children and anxiously asked the staff: "Is the screening over?" As soon as we heard the news, we rushed here, but it was still one step late..." The staff learned of their situation, could not bear the hope of the two families were disappointed, and immediately contacted the medical team to do a detailed examination for the child, confirmed that they had congenital heart disease and met the indications for surgery, and the two little angels were extremely lucky to catch the last train of the Synbiotic Maternal and Child Rescue Fund for surgical treatment.
Every child with congenital heart disease is treated, which not only gives the child a "heart" life, but also gives a family life hope. The Biostime Maternal and Child Rescue Fund under H&H Group has been paying attention to the families of children with congenital heart disease for many years, and insisting on doing a good job in the "three steps" of screening, treatment and return visits. In the "Angel Journey" screening operation, children who meet the indications for surgery are screened, and then they are treated free of charge in partner hospitals in batches through the form of foundation assistance. In order to follow up and understand the treatment and postoperative recovery of children with congenital heart disease, every year, Biostime Maternal and Child Rescue Fund insists on doing return visits, visiting children with congenital heart disease treated in hospitals and carrying out postoperative home visits to understand the physical health and living conditions of children with congenital heart disease.
While the screening team went to Hunan, there were also many caring people with a public welfare heart online, using sports and loving steps to send the greatest support to children with congenital heart disease.
