Shantou Bay Tunnel is a major and difficult control project from Shantou Station of Guangmei-Shantou Railway to Shantou Guangao Port Area Railway, with a total length of 9,965 meters, complex seabed geological environment and difficult construction.
The Guangmei-Shantou Railway Shantou Station to Shantou Guangao Port Area Railway is a newly built passenger and freight co-line railway, the line leads from the Shantou Station of the Guangmei-Shantou Railway, passing through Longhu District, Shantou Bay, Haojiang District, to Shantou Guangao Port Area, the total length of the main line is about 17 kilometers.
"Yudao" is a domestic large-diameter slurry balance shield machine tailored for the Shantou Bay Tunnel, and the cutterhead is painted with a tiger shark pattern, which means "tiger shark opens the way and overcomes difficulties".
The cutterhead diameter of the shield machine is 13.42 meters, the total length of the shield machine is 160 meters, the total weight of the machine is about 3300 tons, and the total installed power is 9300 kilowatts. The shield cutterhead has the functions of atmospheric pressure tool change, gear hobbing exchange, hob wear detection, speed detection and temperature detection.
The construction of the new Guangzhou-Mei-Shantou Railway Shantou Station to Shantou Guangtou Port Area Railway officially started in January 2022, and after its completion and operation, it will open up the "last mile" of sea-rail intermodal transportation between Guangdong and East Guangdong of the Guangzhou-Mei-Shantou Railway, greatly improving the cargo gathering capacity of the Guangzhou-Macao Port Area and the status of Shantou Port as a regional central port, which is of great significance to improving the layout of the regional intercity transportation network.
