A large number of wild reindeer in the Russian Far East died of starvation

On the 28th local time, according to the Russian Wenchuan Telegraph Agency, since the beginning of May this year, a large number of wild reindeer deaths have been found in the tundra belt of Kamchatka Krai in the Russian Far East, and according to the investigation of the relevant local departments, the cause of death of these reindeer is hunger.

According to reports, about 350 reindeer carcasses were found off the coast of Okhotsk in Kamchatka Territory, with distribution intervals of 5 to 40 meters.

After investigation by local experts, the reindeer were not infected with the deadly disease. Due to the thickness of the local snow of 40 to 50 cm, and the water and ice under the snow layer, the reindeer cannot eat the mosses under the snow layer, resulting in a large number of reindeer deaths due to starvation.
