As scientists explained 25 years ago, invasive owls have become the region's second-largest threat, which is that from the fact that striped owls compete with spotted owls, and striped owls are changing ecosystems, science predicts that spotted owls may be pushed towards local extinction in the region in the next few decades.
Scientific researchers speculate that spotted owls have a 95 percent probability of persisting in these areas for 50 years or more, which is a best-case scenario.
