Vettel insists Red Bull Racing's domination cannot overshadow Verstappen's achievements in recent years.
The Dutchman is well on his way to his goal of a third consecutive drivers' championship, leading teammate Perez by 99 points.
However, despite Verstappen's outperformance in the same car, surpassing all rivals, including Perez, many felt Red Bull's dominance offset his efforts, and Vettel was quick to come out in his defense.
"You have to give him recognition, he's doing fantastically. He's talented and makes no mistakes," four-time champion Vettel told the media at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
"Once you're in front because of a good performance, people quickly say it's boring and you win the game easily.
"But racing isn't just about lap. I'm sure Hamilton's reign wasn't easy, just like Michael Schumacher, Mika Häkkinen and myself.
"Conceived and built a car that beats opponents every race weekend is an incredible achievement. Red Bull has done well every weekend thanks to the quality of a perfect, consistent team. ”
After the season opener, the Bahrain Grand Prix, Russell predicted Red Bull would become the first team in F1 history to win every race in a season.
"With this car, the opportunity is absolutely there," Vettel said.
"Reliability must not let the team down, nothing crazy can happen, they have to make it through all the first lap.
"While McLaren 1988 was close to realising, no team has ever done it. So anything is possible, but we can only wait and see. ”
