At around 16:00 on July 14, 2023, the 19th Field Brigade, 61st Battalion and 316th Artillery Battalion of the Burmese Army stationed in Mon Bangyep Town were attacked by the Joint Forces of the People's Defense Army (PDF) using drones, the first joint drone operation by the revolutionary armed forces of Mon State and Tanintharyi province.
Seven revolutionary forces, including the Mon State Revolutionary Army (MSRF), the 2nd Battalion (T-5) in Towei District, and the 1st Battalion of the All Burma Student Democratic Front (ABSDF), jointly carried out the drone operation, dropping one bomb on each military target, a total of three bombs, the specific casualties of the Burmese army are still under investigation, and then the Burmese army responded with heavy weapons, but the joint forces were able to return unharmed to their respective camps.
The attack used a UAV model with a larger payload than ordinary UAVs, aiming to demonstrate the ability of UAVs to operate and promote coordination between revolutionary armed forces to jointly carry out future missions.
