Today, China Eastern officially took delivery of its second domestically produced C919 jumbo passenger aircraft in Shanghai. At 10 a.m., the aircraft was transferred from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and officially "listed" into the fleet of China Eastern Airlines. The arrival of the new C919 aircraft marks the acceleration of China Eastern's commercial operation of the C919 large passenger aircraft.
According to reports, the C919 large passenger aircraft received by China Eastern Airlines this time is the second of the first five C919 passenger aircraft purchased by China Eastern Airlines, and the cabin layout is consistent with the first aircraft.
On July 14, the East China Regional Administration of Civil Aviation issued the nationality registration certificate, airworthiness certificate and radio station license of the second C919 aircraft to China Eastern Airlines, indicating that the aircraft has the commercial operation qualification and meets the airworthiness requirements of civil aviation regulations. According to China Eastern Airlines' plan, the second C919 will be "partnered" with the first aircraft and will first enter the "Shanghai Hongqiao-Chengdu Tianfu" air express line of China Eastern Airlines, and will gradually expand more routes.
As the world's first user of the domestically produced C919 large passenger aircraft, China Eastern officially received the world's first delivery aircraft of the C919 on December 9, 2022. On May 28, 2023, China Eastern Airlines successfully completed the first commercial flight of the C919 "Shanghai Hongqiao – Beijing Capital", and since then the C919 has served passengers on the Shanghai-Rong Express. As of July 12, the first C919 has a total of 87 commercial flights, including 2 flights between Beijing and Shanghai and 85 flights from Shanghai, with an average load factor of nearly 80%, serving a total of 11,095 passengers and a total of 250.10 hours of commercial operation.
After the first C919 delivery aircraft is put into operation, it may not be able to appear on commercial flights every day to carry passengers who wish to visit due to the consideration of on-site training and planned maintenance. After the second C919 is unveiled on the Shanghai-Rong Express, passengers will have more choices to experience domestic large aircraft on China Eastern Airlines flights.
According to China Eastern Airlines, starting from July 1, the meals of China Eastern Airlines flights operated by C919 will be "new", adding aviation meals with Shanghai characteristics, such as Benbang smoked fish and Benbang butterfly crisp, to enhance passengers' flight experience.
