But after all, Laoye Ridge is a defensive point that the enemy painstakingly operates, hoarding ammunition that can hold on for 3 months all year round, and the 112th Regiment of the New 38th Division of the New 1st Army stationed in the new army is a US armament unit that consumes a huge amount of ammunition, so there are too many materials that need to be withdrawn, relying only on the nearly 1,000 officers and men of the regiment, even if each person carries a weight of 80 pounds, there is still a lot of surplus. In order to increase the transportation capacity as much as possible, Zhang Jiezhi, the commander of the garrison regiment, used his crooked brains and decided to forcibly recruit a group of civilians and livestock to help with transportation.

But the surrounding people had long been feared by the Kuomintang soldiers, and the time for retreat was tight, and it was too late to send troops to catch them. Therefore, Zhang Jiezhi first sent people to nearby villages to announce: "Now martial law is lifted!" If you want to farm, hurry up and plant! "It turned out that one week earlier, the defenders of Laoye Ridge issued martial law because of the approaching war, strictly forbidding the people to approach the perimeter of the defense area, seeing that the sowing time was about to pass, the masses were in a hurry and could not help, this time suddenly heard that they could farm, and immediately ordered the livestock to go to the ground. As a result, before the land began to be planted, a group of Kuomintang soldiers rushed out from the shadows, even taking people with livestock, to help them carry ammunition and other weights.

In just 6 hours, the Ace Regiment was completely destroyed
The next morning, all the supplies were finally emptied, but as soon as the dragging was 20 miles away, the vanguard of our army's pursuit rushed up, and braved the enemy's bullets to seize the commanding heights of the nearby hills, and the follow-up troops soon appeared from the south and west, completely disrupting the enemy. This enemy carried materials overnight last night, carried 80 pounds of weight for half a day, and was already exhausted, and the whole army was destroyed in only 6 hours after being hit, and more than 300 people including regiment commander Zhang Jiezhi were killed in battle, and the rest laid down their weapons one after another.
Since the 113th Regiment had just been annihilated a few months earlier in the Battle of Jiangnan by our army, the 112th Regiment was reimbursed this time, and the New 1st Army and the New 38th Division of the New 1st Army, which had been an expedition to Burma and rescued 7,000 British troops in the battle of Ren'an and Qiang, were left with only the 114th Regiment, becoming a "second-class cripple."
