Thiago Silva admitted he invited Paul Dybala to join Chelsea following reports of Paulo Dybala's move to Stamford Bridge.

The Argentine World Cup winner was recently linked by Italian media to a move to Chelsea this summer, with the player reportedly having a €12 million release clause in his current club Roma's contract.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia about rumours of competing in F1 at Sky Sports Italia, Chelsea captain Thiago Silva admitted he had asked Dybala if he would join the Blues, saying: "I saw Paul Dybala here and they (the media) talked about his arrival and going to Chelsea. I talked to him and asked if he would come.

"He's a world-class player. I'd love to play with him and it's going to be a huge signing. Let's see. Dybala joined Roma last season after his Juventus contract expired but has been plagued by injuries since his transfer.

In the 2022/23 season, the striker missed 18 games due to various illnesses, but scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions for Mourinho's team, one of which came when he failed to fully recover in the Europa League final.

Speaking to Italian media at the airport on Saturday, Roma coach Jose Mourinho was asked about reports that Dybala could travel to Chelsea: "I didn't know about his contract", Moruinho said. "But obviously I talk to Paul like I am with all my players."
