Mauricio Pochettino's 9 most expensive signings and their performance: Ndombele ,

Mauricio Pochettino has the difficult task of reviving the shattered Chelsea team, but thankfully, Todd Boly and his colleagues have generously helped him move forward.

Thanks to his impressive coaching, the Argentine has earned himself a considerable reputation, first announcing him to the football world at Southampton before playing for Tottenham Hotspur and transforming it into a club that for years looked like a serious team.

Since then, everything has not been smooth sailing and his time at Paris Saint-Germain is hard to judge, but anyone who can lead Tottenham to the Champions League final deserves their flowers.

But while Boch puts a lot of effort into building an impressive resume, how good is he at spending his money wisely? Let's take a look.

9. Son Heung-min – £22 million

Tottenham spent £22 million to sign Son Heung-min in 2015, when the South Korean impressed with his performance at Bayer Leverkusen.

It took Son Heung-min a season or so to get used to life in England, but when he really adapted, he exploded. Since then, the 30-year-old has made more than 350 appearances for the club and is about to reach 150 goals.

He also won the Premier League Golden Boot, was named in the Team of the Season and was named Tottenham Hotspur's Player of the Season three times.

We think it's very popular.

8. Lucas Mora – £23 million

In the middle of the 2017-18 season, Tottenham bought Mora for a lower price, and he has fallen out of favour in Paris.

He got off to an outstanding start, scoring back-to-back shots in the Champions League semi-finals and scoring a hat-trick to create one of the greatest reversals in the tournament's history and send Tottenham to the Champions League final.

However, with Tottenham Hotspur losing the final, everything at the club slowly crumble, which could have reached its peak.

At just 30 years old, Mora left the club free after his contract expired at the end of the 2022-23 season, after several dismal seasons and declining status in the team.

7. Serge Oriel – £23 million

The deal could fall through due to the complexity of the work permit, but Tottenham managed to sign the 24-year-old Orier from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

The right-back started well but didn't look exactly what they had imagined. Pochettino fell out of favour after leaving the club and left freely in 2021.

6. Ryan Sesegnon – £25 million

When Tottenham beat almost every other top club in 2019 to sign the young Sesegnon in 2019, the deal looked like a genius move.

Sesegnon made his debut at the age of 16 at Fulham and looked completely a rising star. Injuries disrupted his start at Tottenham, but things did take the worst turn when Pochettino was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho, who was not interested in Sesegnon .

Since then, the left-back has largely been in trouble. His tenure at the club coincided with a complete identity crisis after Pochettino, which included playing under the interim coach of Nuno Espírito Santo, Antonio Conte and others.

Sesegnon is only 23 years old, but unfortunately so far his business has been poor. It's a wonderful thing in hindsight, but you do want to know what Pochettino thought of him.

5. Moussa Sissoko – £30 million

Sissoko has made an impressive impression in relegated Newcastle and he has been of interest to many Premier League teams, but mainly Everton.

He looked ready to move to Goodison Park until Tottenham Hotspur stepped in abruptly on a transfer deadline in the summer of 2016, matched the Toffee's offer and persuaded the midfielder to switch south.

He spent the next five years at the club as little more than a rotational player, but experienced a brief revival under Mourinho before leaving in 2021.

4. Nuno Mendes – £34 million

In Pochettino's first full summer as Paris Saint-Germain manager, the club made a big attempt to force a rebuild. Left-back Mendes is one of several high-profile signings who joined from Sporting Lisbon in 2021 on loan before becoming a permanent contract.

The Argentine has actually only managed him for one season, so he can't make his mark on the young newcomers as he did at Tottenham. However, he has been performing well since entering the perpetually chaotic system of Paris Saint-Germain.

3. Davinson Sanchez – £42 million

This is one of the biggest missteps on the list, and it is an unacceptable one.

Sanchez joined Tottenham Hotspur from Ajax in 2017 with promising prospects but failed to deliver on the advertised promises.

He excelled at first, but the influence quickly faded and he barely came close to the eleventh in the last few years, and for good reason. It's too erratic. The 27-year-old doesn't look at all like a £42 million player and is leaving the club. To be honest, he may be outdated.

2. Ashraf Hakimi – £51.1 million

Hakimi's signing with Vitinha and Mendes in the summer of the same year had an immediate impact on Paris Saint-Germain Eleven, resulting in a significant improvement in the quality of right-back.

Almost two seasons have passed and nothing has changed and the Moroccan is one of the first players on the team's roster.

1. Tangi Ndombele – £53.8 million

Sanchez is not blushing as Tottenham Hotspur paid the club's record fee to bring Tangi Ndombele into the club in 2019, arguably their worst deal ever.

Perhaps a victim of Pochettino's sack, the Frenchman's slow start turned into a nightmare, and perhaps a microcosm of everything Tottenham has had since the Argentine's departure.

Ndombele may be one of the most talented players of their history, but he has never been able to replicate that on the pitch, has never been favoured by any manager since Poch and was recently loaned out, winning Serie A at Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur. Not sure what to do with him.

Does Angie Postcoglu bother him? Probably not. When his share price is a bit high, will Tottenham sell him and recoup what they paid? Again, probably not. What a mess.
