According to several executives who participated in the production on an anonymous basis, they were severely squeezed by Sony while working on Spider-Man: Across the Universe, which caused 100 artists to leave the project.

They revealed that "Across the Universe" did not have a specific development direction at the beginning of production, and they could only edit and render according to the concept art originally drawn by the concept design.

The problem is that what they're doing is only in the early stages of film development, which means they need to make a large number of different versions of the same scene, and the producers will pick and choose, and they may end up picking two or none of the dozens of assets.

This resulted in extremely slow progress throughout the project and the need to constantly change previously completed scenarios at a later stage, resulting in overall delays.

And due to the epidemic, "Vertical Universe" has been postponed from the original 2022 schedule to 2023, during which it has experienced a total of four versions of the story.

And because of working from home, the animators hired in the spring of 2021 had almost nothing to do for half a year, because the film was still in the early stages of modeling. This resulted in a very tight schedule in the later stages of the film, resulting in the fact that in the final period, all the crew worked almost sleeplessly.

Moreover, the staff launched charges against Sony Pictures executives, who said that Sony was making "Across the Universe". More than a thousand people were hired to produce it, which led to a very unclear division of labor during the actual production, and many people were doing repetitive work, which eventually led to more than a hundred people leaving.

And they also mentioned Sony's bad attitude to the first side, they said:

"When it comes to making animation, it's a wonderful thing, but Sony makes it all wrong, they squeeze us all the time, they don't give us specific directions, they make us submit a lot of samples, and if they're not satisfied, they keep revising until they're satisfied, but in fact, they don't know what they want."
