After graduating from Peking University, Tao Du successively taught in Qingdao and Jinan, and actively engaged in anti-Japanese salvation and revolutionary literary and artistic activities. In March 1932, Tao Du was arrested and sentenced by the Kuomintang in Jinan, and was released from prison in 1936 after Fan Mingshu and other well-known people came forward to carry out activities.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Tao Du engaged in cultural and educational work in the base area of the Shandong Anti-Japanese Revolution, and was one of the founders of the Shandong Cultural Circles National Salvation Association and the initiator of the Lunan National Anti-Enemy Association. During this period, he devoted himself to the creation of popular literature, and successively published short stories such as "Yang Guixiang Drum Lyrics" and "Rising", "Huang Qian" and "Mai Huang Xingxing", which truly and vividly reflected the struggle and life of the people in the base areas.
Tao Du served as the second chairman of the China Ququ Association, and the current chairman of the Ququ Association is Jiang Kun. In his long revolutionary career, Tao Du made outstanding contributions to promoting China's literary and artistic undertakings, especially the cause of qu art. In October 1991, Tao Blunt was awarded the Expert with Outstanding Contribution by the State Council.
