Zhongshanjun never dreamed that he would suffer the pain of destroying the country because of a bowl of lamb soup.
The Kingdom of Zhongshan is located between Yan and Zhao, and survives in the cracks of the Warring States powers. In an era when countries competed to change the law in order to become strong, Zhongshan advocated the way of Confucianism and showed courtesy to the scholars.
One day, on a whim, Zhongshan Jun invited the scholars in the capital to taste the yangkan, and the doctor Sima Ziji was also among them. In those days, yokan was a rare delicacy. Zhongshan is a small country with few products, and even a cup of lamb soup is enough to soothe people's hearts.
However, maybe the chef was not good at math and failed to calculate the portions, or Sima Zizhi happened to be in the courtyard for a while and was forgotten, in short, Sima Zizhi could not taste the lamb soup that day. Zhongshan Jun was talking with several scholars, but did not notice that Sima Zizhi was angry and left.
Sima Zizhi felt humiliated, but Zhongshan Jun did not know it at all, let alone thought of the ensuing disaster.
Sima Zizhi quietly left the Zhongshan state and defected to the powerful state of Chu in the south.
Soon, he moved the king of Chu to attack the kingdom of Zhongshan with a clever tongue. Soon, the State of Chu captured the weak Zhongshan State like a prospect. Zhongshan Jun fled in the desert, miserable like a dog who lost his family.
There were fewer and fewer people around, and Zhongshan Jun looked around in panic, but found that there were two more young people around him. He followed him with a weapon in hand.
He was so moved that he asked, "What do you do?" Why do others leave me, but you protect me? ”
The two replied, "Our father once starved to death, and you gave him a pot of cooked food to eat, and he remembered it very well." When we are dying, we say to us: 'Zhongshanjun is in danger, you must go and save him, you can die for him.' That's why we're here to serve you." ”
Zhongshan Jun looked up to the sky and sighed: "There is not much to give, but when he is in difficulty; The grudge is not in depth, but in whether it breaks his heart. I died because of a cup of lamb soup, but I got two warriors because of a pot of cooked food. ”

"And the unexpected, the few, its doom; The depth of the resentment is not expected, and it is sad. I will die with a cup of lamb and two with a pot of food. ”
This matter is contained in the Warring States Policy. But the veracity of the matter is in doubt. Because although the country of Zhongshan is small, it is located in the north, far from the Chu state in the south, and Han Zhao and other countries are separated in the middle. It is unlikely that the State of Chu will cross several countries to conquer a small, distant country. And Sima Zi was not a test, and Zhongshan Jun had no clear direction.
But the story is interesting. Zhongshan Jun set up a banquet to win people's hearts, but unexpectedly a small mistake was self-defeating, and the country was destroyed.
The human heart is very subtle, and a small action can set off a huge wave. Sometimes unintentional, as in the above story. Sometimes it is intentional, such as two peach killing three soldiers.
"Dream of Red Mansions" sums it up very incisively: "The cultivation of human feelings is the article, and the insight of the world is learning." "But the human heart is so complicated, how many people can be able to cultivate it? And too much cultivation will lose its edges and brilliance. So we admire the angular Qu Yuan, Li Bai, and Yue Fei, and dislike the sleek Lu Buwei, Qin Huan, Yan Song and others.
Although the yangkan is beautiful, it is difficult to adjust everyone's mouth. If it were you, what would you do with it?
