"Zhuangzi Zhibei Tour" refers to a person named "Zhi" who travels to the north to consult the knowledge of the Tao, that is, the basic understanding of the origin and nature of all things in the universe, and also discusses the understanding and attitude that people should take about the universe and external things.
In the spring of 1949, Xu Zhucheng, a well-known newspaperman who was in Hong Kong at the time and chief writer of Wen Wei Po, together with Liu Yazi, Chen Shutong, Ye Shengtao, Song Yunbin, and dozens of other patriotic democrats, escorted by the underground party organization of the CPC, took the "Central China Ship" north to attend the upcoming preparatory meeting for the new CPPCC. Ye Shengtao figuratively referred to their trip as the "Zhibei Tour"—the meaning of intellectuals going north. After the ship docked at Yantai Port in Shandong Province, Xu Zhucheng and his party visited the towns and villages of the Shandong Liberated Area. In this regard, he made detailed records in his diary and memoirs, leaving a vivid memory with a body temperature for future generations.

In the spring of 1949, more than 20 cultural celebrities were invited north from Hong Kong, which was a group photo of some democrats at the "Central China Wheel".
On the afternoon of March 5, 1949, the "Central China Ship" arrived at Yantai Port, and Jia Ruoyu, chief of staff of the Jiaodong Military Region, greeted him at the dock - Jia Ruoyu, chief of staff, was awarded the rank of major general in 1955 and was the first director of the Military Museum of the Chinese Revolution. After the welcome ceremony, Xu Zhucheng was arranged to rest in the villa left by foreigners, and Xu lived with Liu Zunqi, Wang Yunsheng and Zhao Chao.
On March 6, Guo Zihua, secretary general of the East China Bureau of the Communist Party of China, and Kuang Yaming, deputy director of the Propaganda Department, made a special trip from Qingzhou to greet him, and Guo Zihua, on behalf of the East China Bureau, set up a banquet at the Heji Trading Company to entertain the "Zhibei Tour" and his party. Guo and Kuang entertained guests with Yantai special zhangyu wine, and the dishes were extremely rich, and the guests and hosts dispersed with joy. As for the host of this banquet, Xu Zhucheng introduced: "Mr. Guo Zihua is nearly half a hundred years old, and everyone respects him as 'Elder Guo,' and he is kind and kind. A few days later, the East China Bureau went south, and Guo Zihua stayed in Shandong, serving as a member of the Shandong Branch of the CPC and the first vice chairman of the Shandong Provincial People's Government. Guo later served as vice minister of health and died in Beijing in 1975.
When the "Zhibei Tour" and its party entered the Yantai Liberated Area, they took a group photo after landing.
After the banquet, everyone went to Yantai city for a tour. At that time, it coincided with the kuomintang navy's "Chongqing" uprising and sailed into Yantai Port, and planes frequently attacked, so the air in Yantai city was tense, many shops were closed, and the market was extremely depressed. But even so, Xu Zhucheng also saw the prosperity of the city on the Jiaodong Peninsula, and he wrote in his memoirs: "Yantai is quite rich, and among all the industries, the Meng family (that is, the meng family rich merchants in the Silk Industry in Beijing's Kairui Xiang Silk Industry) have the largest financial resources, not only the silk and cloth industry, but also qianzhuang and southern goods are in the scope of operation." The literati's favorite is still the bookstore, Xu Zhucheng also "looked" for a copy of the "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" published in northeast China in a bookstore, very happy, "red cloth, a thick book, if you see a different product, that is, buy a copy, read it carefully in your time, if you get the most precious treasure." In the evening, he participated in the Yantai Party, Government, Military and Civilian "Welcome to the Yantai Democracy People Conference", and watched a wonderful Peking Opera evening after the meeting. Xu Zhucheng said: "Acting in Ping opera (that is, Peking Opera), there are "Four Jie Village", "Heroes of the Crowd", etc., and the actors are young and extremely kung fu. In the area of Gai Yantai, Ping opera is known as The Root, and the old Beijing opera circle has always regarded Yantai as a fearful road. ”

On the afternoon of the 7th, the "Zhibei Tour" and his party moved to the western countryside of Laiyang (that is, today's Laixi City), and for safety reasons, they were arranged to live in local farmers' homes. Xu Zhucheng and Fu Binran lived in the same room, Fu was sleepy, and when he touched the pillow, the snoring sound was like thunder, so loud that the windows covered with white paper were shaken to make a clanging sound. Xu Zhucheng was overwhelmed with pain, "Every late at night, I can sleep peacefully for four or five hours after being covered." "After getting up in the morning, I saw that the walls of the farm yard were covered with dried sweet potatoes, and the roof and drying table were full of corn, and the landlord told Xu Zhucheng that they used this as a main food all year round, and it was rare to eat flour. When chatting with the village cadres, they took out the authentic Laiyang pear from the cellar to entertain, although the skin color was black, but the skin was sweet and tender after peeling, and it was indeed worthy of the name.
On the 9th, Xu Zhucheng and them traveled from Laiyang to Weixian (present-day Weifang City); on the 10th, they arrived in Qingzhou, the seat of the East China Bureau, by Jiaoji Road train.
On the 12th, accompanied by Shu Tong, member of the Standing Committee of the East China Bureau of the CPC, minister of social affairs, and director of the Ministry of National Military Work, Xu Zhucheng visited the "PLA official regiment," which is often referred to as the "prisoner regiment." There were more than 10,000 Kuomintang officials captured and surrendered in East China, and the Qingzhou regiment was the 14th regiment, located in Xiaozhuang, 40 miles away from the city.
Upon arrival, the democrats arrived in a line at the gate to welcome them. Here Xu Zhucheng unexpectedly met Wang Yaowu, an old acquaintance and chairman of the Kuomintang Shandong Province. For this coincidence between the two, Xu wrote in the article: "When I went to the 'officer corps' this time, I was wearing an old cotton robe, and he (referring to Wang Yaowu) probably bowed his head and did not pay attention. When Shu Tong introduced me in turn, he looked up and smiled at me and nodded. Shu Tong saw clearly from the side and asked me softly, 'Do you know Wang Yaowu?'" Yes, I had a relationship in Guilin six years ago. "Well, when you visit their dormitory later, you talk to him individually and understand his current state of mind. ’”
Regarding the interaction with Wang Yaowu in Guilin, Xu Zhucheng wrote in detail in the book "Xu Zhucheng's Memoirs (Revised Edition):" 6 years ago, when I was working in Guilin, I met Wang Yaowu two or three times. At that time, he was stationed in the Changde area of western Hunan Province. He built a rather generous mansion on Jiangan Road in Guilin so that he could return to Guizhou for a vacation from time to time. He was acquainted with Wang Wenbin, deputy manager of the Guiguan of the Ta Kung Pao. Once, Wen Bin told me, "Wang Yaowu wants to see you, and the day after tomorrow he will entertain you at his mansion." At that time, I will go to the appointment with Chengfu, Li Xiawen, Ma Tingdong, Li Xiushi and so on. The interior and exterior furnishings and the sumptuousness of the banquet that day were rare in Guilin at that time.
The most interesting thing is that the owner kept asking us: 'According to foreign rules, what kind of wine should be poured at this time?' According to international practice, should a hand towel be handed at this time?' It can be said that the host is very humble and 'asks everything'. It can also be seen that he had ambitions at that time, and after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he was promoted to the position of a major officer (at that time, he was already one of Chiang Kai-shek's ace troops, and in 1945 he was sent to take over Shandong, and was appointed chairman of Shandong Province and commander of the Appeasement District until the siege of Jinan was captured. ”
Subsequently, Xu Zhucheng and they visited the students' dormitory, which is generally a room and a plate of kang, the interior is warm and clean, the futon is neat, and the tables and chairs are complete. Wang Yaowu himself lives in a single room, which is better furnished than the general room, with a wardrobe, table and chairs. After Xu and Wang had a brief greeting, they asked him if he had any living habits? Do you feel uncomfortable? Wang Yaowu's answer was very solid and interesting, he said: "Since I was captured and joined the regiment, they have never scolded or insulted us, but only advised us to study hard. Communists of my position will be caught by the Kuomintang and will die long ago. Now, when people treat us like this, we only feel ashamed in our hearts. You ask me if I can eat well in life? People like us, who used to open their mouths when they ate, stretched out their hands in clothes, and didn't pick up any grass, now have to work by themselves, make their own beds, wash their own clothes, sweep the floor by themselves, and go to cook by themselves, of course, they are not used to it. But think about it, what is the purpose of life? Is it only for the exploitation of other people's labor to enjoy your own happiness? Thinking of this, I was calm and at ease to study. ”
Xu Zhucheng told Shu Tong about his conversation with Wang Yaowu, and Shu Tong smiled and said, "His thoughts have begun to make sense." In the small talk, Shu Tong also talked with Xu Zhucheng about Wang Yaowu's escape during the liberation of Jinan, and the plot was twisted and bizarre, like a legendary novel. Later, Xu Zhucheng wrote wang Yaowu's experience as "A True Legendary Story" and included it in his book "Continuation of Old News and Miscellaneous Memories".
On the evening of 13 July, Xu and his party traveled west by train, and before they left, Shu Tong, Xu Shiyou, and others entertained them, and Liu Yazi wrote in his diary: "All the chiefs came to accompany them to drink and toast repeatedly." Arrive in Jinan early the next morning, tour Daming Lake, Thousand Buddha Mountain and other scenic spots in Jinan, visit the library, museum, East China University and so on. After dinner, continue north, and when you reach Sangzidian on the north bank of the Yellow River, the railway is damaged and you take a car to go north.
Liu Yazi
Liu Yazi and his wife, Ye Shengtao and his wife, Chen Shutong, Ma Yinchu, Bao Dasan and several other elderly and infirm people took a small car, and the others all took a bus. On the way, the driver got lost, Liu Yazi's car fell forward and was subverted, but there was no danger, Mr. Liu was safe, Mrs. Liu's wife, Ms. Zheng Peiyi, injured her wrist, but it was not a big problem, and the doctor with the team continued to move forward after a little bandage. Fu Binran, who was sleeping well, slept in the car again, the highway was bumpy and difficult to travel, the car shook from time to time, Xu Zhucheng and Song Yunbin were afraid that Fu Binran would be injured, and repeatedly woke him up. When Fu woke up, he laughed at himself and said, "It's not that I want to sleep, it's that it doesn't make me wake up." Years later, Xu Zhucheng still remembers this scene vividly: "(Fu Binran said) 'it' is a sleepy worm that refers to the sleepy pole. Now Binran's tomb has been arched, and Yun Bin has long been an ancient. At that time, the look in the car was still like a look. ”
On the evening of the 15th, the "Zhibei Tour" entered the territory of Hebei from Dezhou, ending a trip to Shandong for more than ten days.
