　　Wang Haobo: The University of Science and Technology of China is a university founded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is under the dual management of the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Sciences. Founded in 1958, USTC celebrates its 65th anniversary this year. 　　Wang Haobo: The school's enrollment plan for 2023 is still 1,999, but there are still no more than 2,000 students, and it has always adhered to the concept of running a high-quality school. Our overall admissions plan and provincial plan are consistent with 2022, and candidates can roughly estimate this year's admission rank and score based on past admission rankings.

　　It is important to remind candidates that this year we have added two new undergraduate majors, namely "Planetary Science" and "Cyberspace Security".

　　Let's start with "planetary science". In recent years, the lunar exploration project and the launch of "Tianwen-1" have aroused great public interest in deep space exploration and planetary scientific research. Planetary science is a discipline that studies the basic characteristics of celestial bodies and planetary systems such as planets, moons, and comets in the solar system and their formation and evolution laws. Relying on the School of Earth and Space Sciences of USTC, the Department of Planetary Science at USTC is rooted in earth science and astronomy, involving life sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry, material science, information science, etc. We will refer to the training model of the Qiangji Plan, adopt small class teaching and mentorship system to strengthen students' scientific research ability, and rely on the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory to carry out long-term research and thorough training, hoping to cultivate high-quality talents for the mainland's deep space exploration engineering and technology.

Relying on the School of Cyberspace Security, the Cyberspace Security major is committed to cultivating top-notch innovative talents who can support and lead the national cyberspace security field in the "Internet+" era. 　　Three opportunities, no restrictions on major categories, flexible conversion of each college, truly achieve 100% independent choice of major.

　　The school does not need to pay a separate assessment and fee for changing majors, and the credits of general courses previously studied can also be recognized by the new major, so there is no need to extend the academic system. Therefore, although a large number of students change majors every year, they are able to graduate on time in four years. This is also an advantage of the school to change majors.
