Eventually, people's muscles gradually relax and their heartbeat gradually slow down until their heart stops beating and they die.
It is precisely because it is so toxic that its sap was often used in ancient times to make poisoned arrows, shoot wild beasts, or use it on the battlefield. Therefore, "seeing blood and sealing the throat" can also be called "poisonous arrow wood".
For example, in the East Indies in the nineteenth century, some local indigenous people, when they were at war with the foreign colonists of the British army, used the sap of the bloody throat to make poisoned arrows, which caused a lot of damage to the British army.
Although it is a highly toxic plant, it has medical functions and can be used for anesthesia, vomiting, heart strengthening or antipyretic.
The bark of the tree is thick and rich in slender and flexible fibers, so some ethnic minorities living in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, often use its bark to make mattresses, clothes or tube skirts. At present, "seeing blood and sealing the throat" has become one of the key protected wild plants in the mainland, and this plant can only be seen in some nature reserves in Yunnan, Hainan and other regions.
In the Xishuangbanna area of Yunnan on the mainland, there is such an interesting story about the origin of "seeing blood and sealing the throat". Legend has it that once, a Dai hunter, during a normal hunt, came across a large dog bear.
The bear chased him relentlessly, and the hunter urgently climbed a large tree in order to survive. However, the bear still refused to let him go, and prepared to climb the tree and eat the hunter.
In such a situation, the Dai hunter broke off a branch in his hand and stabbed at the hunter who was getting closer to him.
As a result, the big dog bear fell directly to the ground and died directly shortly after. Since then, people living in Xishuangbanna have begun to use the sap of this tree to make poisoned arrows, so that they can better hunt all kinds of prey in the forest, even in the face of some large beasts, they can easily cope with it.
