"Transformers 7": mediocre and boring, another classic IP falls!

In 2007, the first "Transformers" was released, although the plot is simple and the characters are thin, but the Autobots fight with the Decepticons' dragons on the big screen, still attracting many passers-by, and finally made a lot of money, but unfortunately, the subsequent works are rising at the box office, but the reputation is getting worse and worse, especially the fifth part of the series, the poor performance almost destroyed this IP.

As a result, the seventh work in the series abandoned the founding master Michael . Bay, and replaced it with "Quidi 2" director Stephen. Kapoor, a young man who basically did not have any experience directing commercial blockbusters, could see that he wanted to add more personal ideas to the new film, but the presentation was not ideal.

First, the thin story plot

As we all know, the "Transformers" series has never been known for its story, so the plot and the like can be as simple as possible, and the meaning of their existence is nothing more than to connect one fierce fight after another.

But the power of a good commercial film is that it can make the audience ignore its plot, but do not dislike its progression. After all, as long as the logic of the story is not too hard, and the smooth and fluent development continues, the audience will not be too picky, and this film obviously does not even do this.

The main storyline of the movie is that the Autobots and the Dire Beast compete for the "Super Warp Key", both sides have their own purposes, the Dread Beast mainly wants to welcome the Great Demon King "Cosmic Emperor" with the devouring planet to Earth, while the Autobots are just to return to their home Cybertron. Generally speaking, this kind of film that has a clear direction at the beginning basically follows the routine of scrambling - lost - and scrambling, and this film is no exception.

The dispute in the first act in the museum is basically normal, although it is easy to guess the direction of the plot, but because at the beginning, the conservative point is excusable, it is a pity that in order to make the story go on, the villain can obviously solve the Autobot team at one time, but it stops at a critical moment, and the logic is slightly abrupt.

After arriving in Peru to find the second key, the plot of this film really began to collapse. Whether it is humans, Autobots, or primitive beasts, the IQ has decreased significantly.

First of all, the reason why the Autobot took the initiative to find the second key is very far-fetched, it stands to reason that a key has been lost, even if you know that there is a second piece, the first reaction is to snatch the first piece back, otherwise it is meaningless, so the real rush to find the second key should be the fear beast, not the Autobot, which leads to the wedding clothes for others.

Second, the design of the Peruvian temple is extremely careless, if it rotates according to the pattern that everyone can see in the photo, someone should have discovered the mystery a long time ago, similar to the mechanism treatment method that even domestic games have been eliminated, and it actually appeared in a grand manner, which makes people really sigh that the screenwriter's donkey skills are poor.

Third, although there are several shots hinting at the injury of the Flying Eagle Warrior, the reason is not clearly explained from beginning to end, and the primitive beast directly puts the second key to the indigenous tribe allied with him for safekeeping, which is completely unreasonable, because this will not only bring trouble to the other party, but also very unsafe, to be honest, it is more reliable to find a random place to bury it.

In the third act, the two humans originally went to destroy the key secretly, but they were not discovered by the villain, but let the Autobots sell it themselves, which is too funny. The sudden resurrection of Bumblebee is more like a farce, easily squandering the sadness and indignation created by his death.

Second, boring character building

The subtitle of this film is called "Super Warrior Rise", as the name suggests, it should be based on Super Warrior as the protagonist, but you can see the whole film to find that the so-called "Super Warrior" is basically the existence of soy sauce, not only the story advanced to more than an hour to appear, the role played in the later period is also equivalent to nothing, instead of calling it "Super Warrior Rise", it is better to use the name "Optimus Prime" is more appropriate.

In fact, in addition to the captain orangutan pictures and more lines, other rhinos, leopards, etc. basically have no contribution, and some even have no lines, let alone character shaping.

The real protagonist of the movie is still Optimus Prime and the Autobot squad he leads.

In the seventh part, the image of Optimus Prime is closer to his youth, his personality is not calm enough, easy to go to extremes, he has no good impression of humans, and the personality gap with the previous ones is large, although the third act has grown up and began to have some characteristics of a leader, it still gives people a stunned feeling. Although Optimus Prime's personality was not likable before, at least it was a standard positive protagonist setting, and the immature appearance of this film is easier to polarize the perception.

The newly appeared "Phantom" belongs to the role of gag and adjusting the atmosphere, although the ability is average, but the victory is that he can play treasures and use jokes, and the interaction with humans is more interesting, plus deliberately adding scenes and lines to the characters, making "Phantom" the most three-dimensional and profound "Autobot" in this film.

On the human side, it once again demonstrates the truth that "Transformers" do not need human roles.

The male and female protagonists are very mediocre, ordinary personality, average appearance, erratic ability, although they did not make any big mistakes, but the promotion of the plot is also limited, if the third act is not to forcibly add drama to them, there is no need to sneak into the key to destruction from the underground setting, the brotherly love between the male protagonist and his brother, the encouragement of his brother at the critical moment, especially incongruous in the roar of a bunch of Transformers fighting, and it is reduced to a disease-free moan in front of the catastrophe.

The most outrageous is the ending battle male protagonist and phantom combined, although the role is to tell the audience that as long as there is determination, perseverance and courage, there is no enemy that cannot be defeated, but only relying on humans to wear armor can wrench the wrist with the "natural disaster", which makes all the previous settings of the movie pale and weak, moreover, what the audience wants to see is definitely not copying Marvel's "Iron Man", but the team battle between the real transformers, noisy and weakened the momentum of the war.

Third, boring deformation special effects

Perhaps in recent years, there have been more and more special effects blockbusters, and the scenes have become more and more spectacular, so the special effects that were once proud do not have any advantages in the seventh part.

The fight between the Autobots and the Dire Beast after the transformation lacks the sense of mechanical impact, which is too soft, and many of the deformation actions are visible to the naked eye, and the background music does not play its due role this time, so that many fights are just fighting for the sake of fighting, and I can't leave too much impression after watching it.

The most disappointing thing is also the transformation of the primitive beast, except for the gorilla has a long close-up shot, the other basic animal signs have been maintained, and the later fight is only perfunctory with a few vistas. This lack of care abounds in the film, the first museum battle takes place in the dark, the blurry point can still be understood, the next few battles are in the daytime, but there is still no eye-catching famous scene, which can only show that the ability level of the main creators is limited.

Moreover, on the one hand, this film tries to involve human characters in the process of action, but on the other hand, it excludes extras, making people feel that although they have turned the world upside down, they have nothing to do with humans, and this sense of separation also goes against the original intention of the "Transformers" movie.

To be honest, if measured from the perspective of pure popcorn cool films, this film will definitely not be useless, but compared with the first two "Transformers", the seventh film obviously does not reach that height, for sequel movies, if the quality of each is declining, and there is no possibility of recovery, then there is actually no need to continue filming!
