Weng Wenhao

Weng Wenhao, a geologist, is the organizational leader in the development of China's first onshore oil field, the Yumen Oil Mine. He served as the director of the Wartime Production Bureau of the National Government and the president of the Executive Yuan.

Weng Wenhao's second major contribution in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was to organize the development and construction of industries and mines in the rear. In May 1938, Weng Wenhao was inaugurated as Minister of Economy. At this time, most of the maritime passages and railways were blocked and occupied by the Japanese army, and the Chinese transport mainly relied on roads, and the consumption of gasoline and diesel was very large. Faced with the desperate situation of "one drop of gasoline and one drop of blood", under the leadership of Weng Wenhao's organization, he began to develop the Yumen Oil Mine in March 1941 and founded China's own petroleum industry. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yumen drilled 61 wells and produced more than 78.66 million gallons of crude oil, providing a relatively stable energy guarantee for the War of Resistance.
