Since the Red 25Th Army did not get the radio and machine gun parts it most hoped for, it identified Zhang as a speculator. Coupled with the fact that Zhang's troops have been following behind the Red Army, the feeling of giving the Red Army is "forcing us to tighten up a bit", and the Red Army is very resentful, so the Red 25th Army is determined to fight a battle. Zhang Hanmin had his soldiers shout that everyone was his own, hoping that the two sides would cease fire and eliminate misunderstandings. Unfortunately, the Red Army had already identified the enemy identity of the garrison brigade at this time, and the soldiers had already killed the red eye, resulting in further aggravation of casualties. Zhang Hanmin had no choice but to organize firepower resistance, which caused many casualties to the Red Army, and finally the Third Garrison Brigade was defeated in one fell swoop, and more than 1,000 people below Zhang Hanmin were captured.
Zhang Hanmin was a "deep sea" that had been lurking for many years, and the Red Army did not know his true identity. After being captured, Zhang Hanmin asked to see Xu Haidong, but was refused, but was ridiculed. He explained his identity, but the officers and men of the Red 25th Army did not believe him at all, but believed the news published in the enemy newspaper that Zhang Hanmin had executed the guerrillas, and identified Zhang Hanmin as an enemy. During the interrogation of the captives, a man was forced to confess under the pressure of interrogation, saying that Zhang Hanmin was a traitor, and his purpose was to drive away the Red 25 Army and eliminate it if he could not leave, which further deepened the suspicion of the leader of the Red 25 Army about his identity, and asked Zhang Hanmin to let his superior contact write a proof of his identity.

When the 3rd Garrison Brigade collapsed in the battle of the Nine Rooms, the commander of the 9th Regiment, Yan Yu, escaped the disaster by dying. While he was collecting the remnants, Commissioner Wang Feng (political commissar of the Red 26 Army) arrived at his regimental headquarters.

More than a month later, Zhang Hanmin was shot in a military emergency. Wang Feng followed the troops and was tied all the way to northern Shaanxi, until the main force of the Red Army reached northern Shaanxi and finally proved his identity and was finally released.
Afterwards, the chairman repeatedly criticized the person concerned about the annihilation of the 3rd Garrison Brigade and the wrong killing of Zhang Hanmin, and later included Zhang Hanmin in the list of martyrs.
The vicious incident of Zhang Hanmin's murder made Yang Hucheng extremely angry, believing that the Red Army did not pay attention to credit, which made it difficult for the Red Army to carry out a united front against Yang Hucheng in the future. In 1936, the chairman sent Wang Feng to talk with Yang Hucheng, but in the face of Yang Hucheng's questioning of Zhang Hanmin's death, he could not explain it, and it was not until Vice Chairman Zhou came forward later that he could barely understand Yang Hucheng.
Perhaps in the eyes of people today, the leadership of the Red 25 Army seemed to be somewhat allergic, but at that time, the information of the Red 25 Army was almost completely closed, and it was actually beyond reproach to maintain a high degree of vigilance in the extremely cruel struggle, and who can prove that Zhang Hanmin is not an enemy?
