I got early access to Google's Search Lab!

In 1998, Larry Page and Sergey Brin officially launched Google. This "search engine" can search for anything. The possibilities are endless. Over the next few decades, it surpassed Firefox, Bing, and Yahoo to become the most used search engine in the world. (Forgive me for not thinking about Baidu at all.) )

Now, fast forward 25 years. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has launched an unprecedented generative AI called ChatGPT. Instead of browsing multiple sites to find answers to your questions on Google, AI can save you time by giving you answers.

As companies and websites adopt OpenAI's chatbots, Google comes up with something real that weakens people's use of ChatGPT. It's called Search Lab, and it's one of the most useful things Google has launched since its search engine. Let's take a look together:

First, I'll type the following into the search bar:

Now, instead of showing me a list of connections for multiple sites, Google tells me what I'm looking for in a small colored section.

Not only is it pleasing in design, but it also gives you common follow-up questions at the bottom. In the image above, this includes questions such as "Is Medium a reputable website?" " and so on. and "Why do people use Medium.com?" ”。

Fantastic, right?

However, if this is not what you want to ask about the AI's follow-up, you can click on "Ask a follow up" in the lower left corner and...

Enter what you want to ask.

I also have to praise Google for such a clean design. The color choices are different for each search, all of which make you want to Google instead of using ChatGPT or Bing.

This is an example of another color

It's just amazing.

Now, this is just one of the three components of a search lab. It's called the search generation experience. There are also Code Hints and Add to Sheet features:

You can let me know what you think in the comments section: whether it will affect OpenAI's business. If Google made it available to everyone, would you use it, or would you stick with GPT/Bing?
