Videos uploaded to social media by local villagers showed thousands of mosquitoes clustered together like a fast-moving "mosquito tornado" approaching the village.

According to the Siberian Times, entomologist Lyudmila Lobkova said in an interview: "These are formed by male mosquitoes around female mosquitoes in order to mate - there is nothing wrong with that."
This is linked to climate change, with rising temperatures leading to longer mating seasons for mosquitoes.
