Dalian Natural History Museum, formerly known as Dalian Manchuria Resource Museum, is located at No. 3, North Yantai Street, Shengli Bridge, Zhongshan District. The main building of the museum is the Dalian City Hall, which was built in July 1899 by the RussianS. In order to plunder the geological and mineral resources of the Northeast region, The Japanese Manchurian Railway established the Geological Survey Here in April 1907, and has since been renamed the Manchurian Material Reference Museum, the Manchurian Resource Museum, and the Manchurian Resource Museum.

The building area of the museum is 5000 square meters, and the exhibition area is 2500 square meters. Through various means, the staff of the museum has collected more than 4,000 kinds of physical objects, specimens and models such as geological minerals, agriculture and forestry, animal husbandry, aquaculture, animals, plants, etc., more than 10,000 kinds of charts and literatures, as well as experimental products and references of natural science research institutions, and marked the transformation process from resources to products and their application value in the form of illustrations. These exhibitions provide a detailed basis for the selection of development and utilization.

After liberation, the museum was renamed Dalian Natural History Museum, one of the four famous natural museums in China, and a comprehensive natural science museum registered by UNESCO. The exhibits are classified into five parts: marine life, geology and minerals, the origin of life and the emergence of humans, and animals and plants.

Central Laboratory

The former site of the Mantetsu Central Laboratory is located at No. 457 Zhongshan Road. It was built in 1907 with a construction area of 6660 square meters and belongs to the Japanese Style French architecture. In May 1910, the Manchurian Central Laboratory was renamed the Manchurian Central Laboratory. When the Pacific War broke out in 1941, the experimental institute immediately faced the war, focusing on the manufacture of light metals and liquid fuels, and also undertook some research tasks in the military industry. In March 1949, it was renamed the Institute of Science of Dalian University. In 1962, it was officially named Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

From March to August 1930, Lu Zuofu, a famous patriotic industrialist and founder of Minsheng Company, led an inspection delegation composed of Jiangbabihe Gorge Defense Bureau and other units to Nanjing, Shanghai, Northeast China and other places to investigate and study, and at the same time exchanged specimens with relevant units, and in the process made friends and recruited talents. In fact, the purpose of this expedition was not specifically to establish the Academy of Sciences, but the trip to the northeast during the expedition greatly stimulated Lu Zuofu. Lu Zuofu wrote in his travelogue that there were two more powerful weapons for the Japanese invasion of Manchuria and Mongolia that were ignored by ordinary people, one was the Manchurian Resource Museum and the other was the Central Experimental Institute. All the minerals, agriculture, and animal husbandry of Manchuria and Mongolia are collected by the Japanese, the number is counted, the terrain is measured, the list of drawings is made and the model is explained, and displayed one by one in the Manchurian Resource Museum, we do not need to go to The Manchurian Resource Museum, we only need to go to the Manchurian Resource Museum, we can see the Manchu house clearly, others have already included our house in several rooms, we ourselves are still dreaming. What he saw and heard made Lu Zuofu realize that the most important way was to get up and run it himself, in order to extinguish the ambitions of outsiders. Therefore, it is urgent to establish research institutions and develop the resources of the western region, and if there is no science as a backing, all this can only be a castle in the air.

Before the inspection was completed, Lu Zuofu decided to set up the "Preparatory Office of the Western China Academy of Sciences" in Shanghai and purchased relevant instruments and equipment. At this point, the preparatory work for the establishment of the Western Academy of Sciences has entered the final stage. In the autumn of 1930, shortly after Lu Zuofu returned to Chongqing after his investigation, the Academy of Sciences of Western China, with the purpose of studying practical science to assist the development of economic and cultural undertakings in western China, was finally formally established in the Beibei Flame Shandong Yue Temple in Chongqing.
