In the Sichuan amateur football circle, there is a popular network of women's football: due to the high appearance and outstanding skills of the female players in the team, a large number of men's football teams are competing to line up for the game. There are even many foreign male fans who fly to Chengdu to play a game with them. The team is called Xiao Mulan Football Club, and the captain is a beautiful woman named Liu Yao, who is 25 years old this year.

From the overwhelming news reports, Liu Yao already knew about the Chengdu Universiade to be held next year, and told the Red Star News reporter: "In 2011, I knew about the Universiade. Unfortunately, I was not able to participate in the Universiade that year. Now the Universiade is going to be held in Chengdu, although I can't participate, but I will go to the scene to cheer for the athletes. ”

Liu Yao

At the age of 19, he set up a team to facilitate everyone's "itchy feet" when they were about to play

Liu Yao is only 25 years old this year, but her ball age is 11 years. At the age of 13, Liu Yao participated in the long jump event of the Zizhong County Games in Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, and won the third place in the county, and was also recruited into the team by the Zizhong County women's football coach because of his agility and explosiveness. Liu Yao had never been exposed to football before, but with his outstanding physical fitness and speed advantages, he gradually rose from the bench to the main force.

2010 was Liu Yao's highlight moment. That year's Zizhong women's football team, in the Sichuan Provincial Games women's football (95-96 class) event, broke the historical record to win the championship with an impressive record of not conceding a goal. Liu Yao played all the games as the main left winger and scored two goals. After that game, Liu Yao entered the Sichuan Women's Football Team and came to Chengdu. At that time, she aimed to enter the national team. But then because of some off-field factors, she left the provincial team and said goodbye to football.

After completing high school, Liu Yao opened a teahouse and sold red wine. And her re-exposure to football is due to a "chance encounter" together.

Liu Yao recalled: "The team was founded when I was 19 years old. One day, I went to Chengdu University of Technology to look for a classmate, and when I passed the stadium, I saw a group of boys playing football. I happened to be wearing a pair of sneakers and joined the competition. Probably because I am a professional, those boys appreciate my skills, and after the game, many people asked me to play football together in the future. ”

Since then, Liu Yao has begun to "play wild ball" with boys, and has the idea of forming a women's football amateur team. "At that time, I had a lot of teammates in Chengdu, and they were also players in the provincial team, but then they stopped playing. If there is a team, it is convenient for everyone to play together when their feet are 'itchy'. ”

Play football, girls are no worse than boys!

In November 2015, Liu Yao's Xiaomulan women's football team was officially established. The average age of the team members, including housewives, white-collar workers in the workplace, and college students, is less than 30 years old. "We're just going to prove that we don't let the eyebrows be shaved." Playing football, girls are no worse than boys. Liu Yao said that after 4 years of development, Xiao Mulan has more than 40 female football players. Many of these players are teammates who have retired from the provincial team.

Interestingly, in the nearly 5 years of team formation, Xiao Mulan's opponents are all men's football. Because of the solid basic skills and skilled cooperation, many men's football teams can't play them. In the Chengdu football circle, the Xiaomulan women's football team began to have a small reputation, and more and more men's teams were looking for them to play.

"In general, we can cope with the general enterprise team, but it is still difficult to fight when encountering a more professional amateur team." Liu Yao said. Every time she played football with boys, in order to respect her opponents, Liu Yao asked the female players to put on light makeup, fully warm up, and formulate tactics.

In the competition, although the strength and speed are not as good as the boys, the girls are holding back a fierce force, fighting actively and fiercely. For some boys who do not respect the women's soccer players, they will also unite to "return the color". Liu Yao said that it is inevitable to meet some people who have studied football for several years and like to show off, but most of the opponents are very gentlemanly.

The Chengdu Universiade will showcase the charm of sports and university students

Last year, because of the "about ball" fee, "Xiao Mulan" and Liu Yao himself were pushed to the cusp of the storm. Liu Yao said: "Because everyone has just joined the work, many people still ask for money from their families, and some even do not have formal jobs, but just work part-time outside." I thought of a way, hoping that the opponent would reimburse the venue fee and the fare, so that the team could continue to persevere and go further. ”

Now, "Xiao Mulan" basically has others to ask for the ball every week, because of the epidemic, Liu Yao has reduced the cost of playing a game to 1000-1500 yuan, compared with 1500-2000 yuan before.

In addition to insisting on playing football, Liu Yao is still doing operational work on a stadium. She said: "My view of the Chengdu Universiade is that this is a grand gathering of university students from all over the world, full of youth and vitality, which can fully show the charm of sports and university students. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to participate in the Universiade in 2011 and can't catch up now. But after so many years in Chengdu, I have deeply felt the changes that sports have brought to the city. A large number of stadiums, greenways, and sports parks have sprung up, bringing people a healthier, more fashionable and more environmentally friendly lifestyle. The Universiade is held in Chengdu, and although I can't participate, I will go to the scene to cheer for the athletes. ”
