Ukrainian media reported on the 25th that the National Gas Company of Ukraine (Naftogaz) signed a framework agreement with The Moldovan state-owned energy company Energocom to supply 700 million cubic meters of natural gas to Moldova if necessary. Ukrainian government sources were quoted as saying the deal came against the backdrop of Moldova's failure to reach a new gas procurement contract with Gazprom and the increase in gas prices.

At the same time, according to the Russian news agency, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Spynu intends to negotiate with Gazprom President Miller on the 27th in St. Petersburg on the new gas procurement contract.

Due to the energy crisis and shortage of natural gas supply, the Moldovan Cabinet declared a 30-day state of emergency until November 20 on the 22nd of this month. Moldovan Prime Minister Gavrice said the steps taken by the Moldovan government were necessary to ensure national energy security so that financial resources could be allocated to purchase natural gas from alternative sources. She also revealed that the Moldovan government has failed to agree on a new procurement contract with its main energy supplier Gazprom, declaring a state of emergency that will allow the purchase of natural gas from other sources. It is reported that moldova's contract with Gazprom expired at the end of September, and the Moldovan government wanted to extend the contract at a price of 790 US dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, but was refused.
