Finally, the working class awakened, and in the thirties and forties of the 19th century, the three major European workers' movements broke out. Initially workers thought that the root of everything was that the machine was a factory, and workers began to destroy the machine and burn the factory. It was in the workers' movement that Marxism was born and the working class realized that the root cause of oppression was private property. In the vigorous proletariat, both Marx and Engels asserted the inevitable demise of capitalism. However, Marx and Engels did not expect that decades later, because of the scientific and technological revolution, large-scale colonial plunder and invasion of China, the war reparations of more than one billion taels of silver brought about by the invasion of China, the capitalist countries obtained huge amounts of wealth, thus beginning to improve the treatment of workers, improve the working environment of workers, and start the process of urbanization, not only out of the crisis of extinction, but also evolved to the stage of state capitalism.
Today's AI is very similar to the mechanical invention of two hundred years ago, which replaced human physical labor and is now replacing human mental work. The essence of both is to replace people, eliminate employment, and cause a large number of people to lose their jobs. But people will not be eliminated, and massive unemployment will cause serious social problems.
The final solution to this problem is either the awakening of the workers again, the socialist movement and the proletarian revolution breaking out again in Europe and the United States; Either the European and American countries choose to start a war to transfer domestic contradictions and divert the crisis, which is likely to evolve into a third world war.
Not all technological progress is good and should be rejoiced. Replacing human scientific and technological inventions will inevitably bring serious social problems, so they cannot be regarded as good scientific and technological inventions. Only good technologies that can stimulate demand, such as the invention of mobile phones and smartphones, have greatly stimulated consumer demand, generated more than 600 related industries, driven employment and promoted social development. For example, today's new energy vehicles in China have stimulated the demand for replacement cars with their excellent driving experience, creating a large market of hundreds of billions.
Inventions like ChatGPT only kill jobs and cause serious social problems. In March, Google's parent company Alphabet announced 12,000 layoffs, and Microsoft announced 10,000 layoffs. On March 14, Facebook's parent company Meta launched a second round of layoffs, laying off another 10,000 people. On May 3, IBM announced that it would suspend hiring for jobs that AI can be qualified for, replacing 7,800 jobs with AI, which means that about 7,800 people will lose their jobs. These layoffs are concentrated in the positions that AI can replace, and as there are more and more AI application scenarios and AI is trained to become more intelligent, capitalists will definitely choose more cost-effective AI than people.
The wave of AI unemployment is only going to grow
With the large-scale application of AI, the earth really needs only 500 million people as originally envisioned by Freemasonry, and the rest of humanity is surplus labor. What about this surplus labor? If they want to survive, they will inevitably resist. In order to avoid extinction, capitalist countries are likely to choose to wage war, on the one hand, to divert domestic contradictions, and on the other hand, to achieve the purpose of eliminating the surplus population.
The large-scale use of artificial intelligence should avoid causing social problems, which can only be solved by socialist countries with public ownership. Socialist countries create value through the extensive use of robots and artificial intelligence to produce products, and then rationally distribute wealth through the state system to ensure the normal living needs of every citizen, so as to realize that people no longer work for a living, but pursue free and comprehensive development. Therefore, for socialist countries, scientific and technological progress such as artificial intelligence and industrial robots, coupled with nuclear fusion has unlimited energy, air starch to achieve unlimited food, and material living materials are extremely rich, we will welcome the arrival of communist society in a short period of time.
