On the morning of January 5, 1996, 20-year-old Song Xuewen was on his way to work when he found a small shiny metal chain lying in the snow under the No. 4 cracking furnace. The metal chain resembled a key chain, so Song Xuewen picked it up and asked the workers of Qingxue if anyone had lost a key chain. However, the symptoms became more and more serious, and he thought that it should be better to rest for a while, so he took a leave of absence to go back to the dormitory. After returning to the dormitory, he began to vomit non-stop, and then he had to vomit once in less than 10 minutes, and his body became weaker and weaker. In a trance, he asked the duty officer for help and asked them to send him to the hospital.
At five o'clock in the afternoon, the leader came after hearing his symptoms, inquired in detail about his condition, and asked him if he had picked up something similar to a metal keychain. After hearing his affirmative answer, the leader immediately asked the people around him to leave the room. Then the leader told Song Xuewen that it was not a key chain, but that there was nuclear radioactive material -192 attached to it. Due to the illegal operation of the staff, the radioactive source fell off and was lost at the construction site, and finally Song Xuewen was picked up as a key chain.
2. Radiation is serious and has been mutilated
Song Xuewen was immediately sent to the local hospital for treatment, but the local hospital had not been exposed to such cases, and after a series of treatments, Song Xuewen did not get better but fell into a coma. On January 7, Song Xuewen was rushed to Beijing 307 Hospital, the only hospital in the country to treat radiation diseases.
The amount of nuclear radiation that Song Xuewen received has far exceeded the maximum amount of radiation received by normal people. Nuclear radiation caused his muscles to fester, toxins pressed against his nerves, and the degree of neuralgia far exceeded that of physical pain, which was unimaginable. He spent three hellish years in hospital. In these three years, he underwent seven major surgeries, countless minor surgeries, and after amputations, he had only his right upper limb left with healthy limbs, and only one finger remained in his right hand. The original 109-pound Song Xuewen was tortured to the point where only more than 50 kilograms were left.
The pain of treatment and the pain caused by radiation forced him to numb his nerves through Durandine and the like. Over time, he became addicted to drugs, and the strong Song Xuewen relied on his tenacious will to quit drug addiction. But when his condition deteriorated again, he had to take poison and anesthetic drugs, and then quit. In this way, in the three years of treatment, he became addicted three times and quit one after another by his own will.
The radiation also caused his vision to deteriorate rapidly. His chromosomes were also destroyed by radiation, he was still in his youth, he had not yet met his beloved other half, but was told that his fertility had been completely lost.

1. A ray of sunshine in the dark life

Song Xuewen accidentally dialed the phone to let him and Yang Guang know each other. After Yang Guang learned about his situation, he did not dislike him and decided to share the pain with him.

But the damage of nuclear radiation has been lurking in Song Xuewen's body. In 2017, Song Xuewen began to vomit blood. After going to the hospital for examination, his biggest fear appeared, he was diagnosed with a series of radiation diseases such as cirrhosis, diabetes, radiation cataracts and so on. Faced with the harsh reality, Song Xuewen did not have time to complain about himself. He wants to use his limited life to create enough value to give his wife and children more protection.
With a meager income from starting a kindergarten, he began selling rice online and later contracted a fiber optic renovation project in a small town. He set his time to the brim, racing against the clock to death, just to make more money. Later, because of the family's constraints, he gave up treatment and devoted himself to work.
In April 2019, Song Xuewen ended his bumpy and wonderful life. Song Xuewen used "pain and happiness" to describe his life.
